Daily Living Made Easier

One of the best ways to encourage our kids and grandkids to pray is to pray with them and for them - Psalm 116-1-2This week, I've been praying extra for several friends – online and off – who are dealing with grief and loss! From loved ones who have gone on to heaven ahead of them to finding out a dear friend may have cancer, it's been a tough time for each of them and a time of much prayer for me. Grief and loss are definitely some of the many issues we deal with often in the Sandwich Generation, that's for sure!

All of this also led me to update one of my Squidoo lenses, Christian Pain and Suffering – Words of Encouragement for the Hurting, and add a new page to my list of favorite series in the right column – Grief and Loss. In the process of doing all this, I received a visit from a fellow Squidoo writer, Kaazoom. who wrote "The whole issue of suffering is so difficult to deal with. One of the best testimonies I have seen is by a man called Scott Abbot who has muscular dystrophy, I think his talk says it all." He left the link to a video there. Having learned my lesson the hard way, I try never to share anything without watching it through the WHOLE way, no matter HOW busy or crazy my Sandwich Generation issues are. And oh my, I'm so glad I did that with this video. What a sweet blessing it was. A wonderful testimony of God's power and provision that so blessed me, as well as a great reminder of what NOT to say to someone who is suffering for any reason. And trust me, I've had friends and family who have been devastated by some of the comments he shared – and I bet you have too!

As I watched it, I knew I had to add it to my Pinterest site and when I was done, I thought how wonderfully perfect it is for today. So without further adieu…

What a gift God has given this brother in Christ. And what a heart-stirring story he shared towards the end about the Christian who lost his whole family in a car accident! This video is such a precious reminder to all of us juggling so many different, and often heart-breaking, Sandwich Generation issues that our God is right here with us, leading us, guiding us, loving us, using us in the midst of it all. A sweet and indescribable joy, indeed!

Spiritual Sundays are full of devotionals with encouraging Bible verses to bless the Sandwich Generation boomers and seniors busy caring for the elderly parents while babysitting grandchildren

The Sandwich Generation Defined – This Week – Multigenerational Caregiving, Including Cute Critters

  1. What a wonderful testimony in this video. Thank you for sharing it. It is pretty lengthy, but well worth watching.

  2. There are many storms that we have to face in life, but I know that every experience that God exposes us to is meant to make us stronger. He is our “umbrella” of hope, waiting to offer shelter and protection through even the stormiest of situations! 🙂

  3. Amen, Denise, AMEN! Thank you for your lovely words of inspiration!

  4. It was definitely long, Charlotte – I think it was the sermon for that week. But as you said, well worth watching it all! Very encouraging and challenging!
