Time for another peppy ten commandments song for our kids and grand children. This is from the Wonder Kids on their album, The A to Z Memory Bible with Kirk Cameron, Volume 1.
The song itself is entitled, Moses Receives the 10 Commandments (If Anything Is Excellent). This is not your standard 10 commandments song but it’s great for focusing their minds on Philippians 4:8 as well as teaching more about the WHY of the 10 commandments for our kids to enable them to better internalize the truths. It starts with a 44 second spoken introduction explaining why we have the 10 commandments, including the fact that “God listed His standard for excellence in the 10 commandments.” The narrator explains why we need a Savior, explains where in the Bible the ten commandments are found, then jumps into the fun song with lyrics that include the words of encouragement from Philippians 4:8 – “if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”
One word of warning. If you are looking for a variety of mp3 versions of the 10 Commandments songs for kids, you need to know that the Wonder Kids also have a song, The Ten Commandments, on a different album, the 100 Bible Songs & 100 Bible Stories, also for children. That 3 CD set looks great, however that particular song is NOT a song, it’s a very short (20 seconds) verbal explanation of where we got the 10 commandments. It’s definitely NOT a good option for a stand-alone mp3 download of a 10 commandments song for kids. 🙂

Isn’t that a fun way to help with teaching the ten commandments to our kids and grand children? Keep visiting. I’ve got a few more songs for you over the next few Mondays! Teaching the 10 commandments for kids and grand children is a delightful way for the Sandwich Generation grandparents and grandkids to enjoy time together and a lovely way of leaving a spiritual legacy. Adding music to the mix definitely makes it even sweeter! 🙂
