Daily Living Made Easier

One of the joys of being a granny nanny is the opportunity to reinforce lessons my grandkids learn from their parents. Spiritual activities for grandparents and grandchildren are always a high priority for me, as are educational activities. When I get a chance to combine the two, I really love it!

My grandkids and I were talking about using 911 for emergencies last week and I thought my mom's Jitterbug cell phone for senior citizens and some encouraging Bible verses would make a fun combo picture for today's Word-Filled Wednesday as well as for our grandchildren.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.

Psalm 50:15

Teaching our children and grandchildren to call 911 for an emergency is vital. There are plenty of great examples of young children successfully calling for help in a crisis – even kids as young as 3 or 4. Teaching them to consistently call upon the Lord is another invaluable lesson. These comforting  Bible verses are great for memory verses for children and grandchildren, aren't they? 🙂

I like the way you used that verse. Wouldn’t it be great if all cells phones had that in them.

I love this Kaye! I’m so thankful that God doesn’t place us on “hold” or that we have to go through a series of “press 1 for…” He is right there, all the time – read to hear and answer our prayers.

Wow. What a great post! Some very helpful links, too.
    Happy WFW 🙂

  6. That is so neat, Kaye. Thanks for telling us about that phone. I can’t afford a good cell phone. I don’t like the cheap no contract, pay as you go ones. Blessings ~

  7. Hi Cathy, You’re very welcome. Because there is no contract, the senior friendly Jitterbug cell phones do cost the full price – but it’s a lot less than my smartphone would be if I had to pay full price for it, instead of their contract special prices. They offer several great rates for monthly fees, from very low-emergency rates to higher fees for those who want to use it a lot. My senior mom has an in between one and we might be able to lower it soon. An even less expensive option that is strictly for emergencies (another senior relative has this and has been blessed by it several times) is some type of elderly medical alert system using an emergency pendant or watch. That’s a flat monthly fee. And it can literally be a life saver for elderly parents who are home alone and fall. The ones I am familiar with do require them to push the button BUT I’ve recently read about one that doesn’t require that. I’ll be researching that and writing about it in upcoming weeks. 🙂

  8. Hi Whidbey Woman, Thank you 🙂

  9. Oh Joan, I am so with you on that. What an awesome blessing our God is! 🙂

  10. Too true, Fromt the Heart. Then again, I guess you could say we’ve been using high-tech prayer “cells” for centuries! 🙂

too cute Kaye! I might have to try making something like that!
and yes 911 is so important! How often we forget “who” we need to call in an emergency!

  11. Hi Amydeanne, Thank you 🙂 🙂 🙂

  12. Such a creative way to display this verse ! Amen, We all need to to keep God on our “speed dial” of prayer .
    Blessings,
    ~Myrna

  13. Hi Myrna, You got that right! Especially for those middle of the night calls due to emergencies involving elderly parents, grandkids, etc!
