Lilly Sold Drug for Dementia Knowing It Didn’t Help! Just goes to show we need to keep asking questions, keep researching, and keep learning when we are caring for our aging parents.

GRANDKIDS:

Even if you’re really careful about those photos of grandkids online, they could wind up in places you don’t want them. Here’s an interesting article about a family photo that showed up larger than life on the
window of a Czech grocery store!

Yummm – do you have a breadmaker you are not using? Here’s a recipe I’m going to try out on my senior mom just as soon as I pull mine out of storage.

If you are flying this summer, whether alone or with aging parents and/or grandkids, don’t count on blankets and pillows being available. I usually carry my own, but recently flew with one of my grandkids and we both forgot to bring our jackets. When I asked for blankets and pillows, Southwest explained that they had removed them due to swine flu precautions. So far, it’s just Southwest, but according to an article by Chron.com, it not only is healthier, it saves airlines money. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more airlines follow this example. And after reading the article, I don’t know that I want to use them anymore myself!

Are you thinking of moving near grandkids or aging parents in Boise? If so, you’ll be happy to know that it is number 4 on the U.S. News’ “Best Places to Live 2009”  What if your family lives elsewhere? There’s several other cities mentioned as well.

Vitamin D Deficiency May Lead to Dementia and many in the 50-70 year old age range may be Vitamin D deficient!

Some interesting food tips to enjoy sharing with your aging parents from the Foodimentary Guy – Did you know that Carrots used to be only white or purple. Orange varieties were thought to be created in the 1500’s to honor William I, Prince of Orange! Also, within two hours of standing in daylight, milk loses between half and two-thirds of its vitamin B content! And last but definitely not least, he has an intriguing new site coming out – Vegimentary.com! It’s not there yet, but I’m watching for it too 🙂

beyond coupon clipping and sale shopping” and have 20 podcasts on money saving topics that you can put in your mp3 player and listen to as you shuttle aging parents and grandkids around town or do your housework. Even better, listen as you take a walk and exercise your brain and your body at the same time. One of my favorite ways to do it!

In Christ and through faith in Him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

Looking for a new cell phone? I can’t use the iPhone because it is too wide for my hand but I have two daughters who LOVE it. If that’s you, too, did you know that Apple slashed the price of a new one to $99? It’s very handy for caregivers who often have to be away from their computer but need info. My smart phone is smart but the iPhone is faster!
