Autumn is in full swing around here for us. My senior mom and I were out enjoying fall "walk at home" activities, reveling in the lovely fall colors like this leaf, not to mention the gorgeous red velvet of the delightful Celosia flower plant in our neighbors' gardening projects. I snapped this photo with my easy to use digital camera – isn't that leaf gorgeous! I thought of this walk, and the lovely sights, when I was sitting in church the next day, reading the encouraging Bible verses from Ephesians 4:1b-3.
Walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Aren't those sweet Christian words of encouragement and inspiration that are especially appropriate for all of us in the Sandwich Generation? Whether it's working with elderly parents who don't feel well, recalcitrant grandkids in grave need of a nap, or even a cranky check out clerk ringing up our many different prescriptions, we have been CALLED by GOD to walk in this manner. And what a blessing it is when we walk in the Word of God.
