For Word-Filled Wednesday, I shared some wonderfully encouraging and uplifting Bible memory verses from Romans 5 for our children and grandchildren, not to mention all the rest of us in the Sandwich Generation.
Today, when I was thinking of what praise and worship hymn songs or music to use that would go well with those verses, I realized that one of my absolute favorites was perfect. It's not one of the very old Christian hymns. Although, since it was written in 2001 – making it older than many of my grandkids – I suspect they might differ. 🙂
In Christ Alone, by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend, is such a beautiful song musically speaking. But the words are what really speak to my heart, including…
"In Christ alone, my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm." – Exactly what all of us in the Sandwich Generation so desperately need!
"…as He stands in victory, Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine, Bought with the precious blood of Christ!". – what a precious reminder for all of us and such a joy to share with our children and grandchildren! And so aptly reminding us of the words from Romans 5:8-9,
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Enjoy this lovely version of In Christ Alone – this hymn song was performed by Avalon…

Such a lovely encouragement during this season of Lent 2012 for all of us in AND out of the Sandwich Generation, including our children and grandchildren, and on up to our aging parents. For more encouraging Bible verses, praise and worship music and thoughts on Lent…
And…
Hello Kaye, and thank you for your lovely, encouraging comment on my post – I love that quotation from the Message, and also like the sweet smile of the otherwise very formal hymn writer. Now I’m listening to your song and thinking that this is all about why we need not fear – Christ is our cornerstone and we need neither apologise for him nor attack for him – living for him is all he asks, and all we need.
Such a great song you shared with us this weekend!
In Christ Alone is one of my favorites too, Kaye. Thank you for sharing again.
Blessings,
Charlotte
