HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the great dads and grandfathers in the Sandwich Generation.
My dad was a wonderful caregiver when he and my mom were in the Sandwich Generation decades ago – caring for an elderly aunt when I was a teenager. And again when they were caring for both sets of their parents, tho at that point all the kids had moved out so I think there were a few less challenges. Then again, the grandkids had started to come along… 🙂 Bottom line, there are plenty of men who are caring for elderly parents, as well as women. And whether you are a mom or dad, grandpa or grandma, it's not easy, is it!
That's one of the reasons I love Psalm 34 so much. The comforting and encouraging Bible verses in this Psalm are some of my favorites, especially these I've listed below, and I find them so uplifting. I hope and pray you do as well! And if you want to read the whole Psalm, just click here.
I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are discouraged take heart. Come, let us tell of the LORD’S greatness; let us exalt his name together. I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me, freeing me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy…
I cried out to the LORD in my suffering, and he heard me. He set me free from all my fears. For the angel of the LORD guards all who fear him, and he rescues them. Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in him! Let the LORD’S people show him reverence, for those who honor him will have all they need…
The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit…
Sweet words of encouragement and inspiration for all of us in the Sandwich Generation, don't you think? And once again, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.
Thank you for sharing this encouraging post.
Blessings,
Charlotte
