Daily Living Made Easier

Life can be tough sometimes, can't it? You and I, in the throes of the Sandwich Generation, are busy dealing with all the ups and downs that come with caring for the elderly parents and relatives in our family while juggling the needs of our kids or even babysitting grandchildren. Whether we are dealing with a beloved parent who has a debilitating disease or dementia symptoms or a grandchild who broke his leg playing soccer, it's difficult, isn't it? And if both are going on at once, it may seem like we just don't have the strength and wisdom to deal with it all!

Isn't it wonderful to KNOW that, even on the most difficult days – ones that make you feel like you just can't keep going on – there is HOPE and HELP in GOD! And it's only a simple CALL away. (Not only that, unlike my iPhone or my senior mom's cell phone for seniors, this call never gets a busy signal! 🙂 )

The Sandwich Generation issues of caring for the elderly parents in the family can lead to a hurting heart from such things as grief hospice and death - but comforting Bible verses remind us GOD is our strength

Comforting and encouraging Bible verses, like Psalm 73:25b-26, "…besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever," are wonderful reminders of the FACT that GOD is our STRENGTH FOREVER! They are perfect for us, in the Sandwich Generation, to spend time in daily, thinking over – meditating about – dwelling on! Not to mention, teaching them as Bible memory verses for our children and grandchildren. What a blessed gift to us from the awesome Word of God!

  1. I can definitely relate to the title of your blog–especially since I moved my mom in with me last March. God has been good to us both and made it work out well. I love this verse! Thanks for sharing it with us at Word-filled Wednesday. Blessings!

  2. Hi Renee Ann, What a wonderful gift you and your mom are giving each other. Thank you for stopping by. 🙂

  3. I love the songs that are full of the word of God…..we both encourage ourselves and pass it on through music to the little ones around us.

  4. Oh Lori, i had to laugh as I read this. I just walked in, tired – grumpy – worn – and your comment picked me up! First by the cute “deflated heart” – such a great way of putting it and that was exactly how mine was feeling – and then by YOU pointing ME back to my verse. What a blessing! Thank you 🙂

  5. Hi Ozjane – those are my favorites too! And haven’t you found that as you are singing those cute little praise and worship hymn songs and music to the little ones, they encourage you all over again! 🙂 Happy Word-Filled Wednesday. 🙂

  6. What a wonderful WFW! Love the verse and the picture!! Happy WFW!

    Kaye!
This may be my absolute favorite verse you’ve done…Our hearts do fail, we fall down, and this image just works for me…deflated heart of mine calls out to God and HE lifts me back up! I LOVE this!!

thank you for sharing your heart! 🙂
    peace,
    lori

  7. Thank you for that verse. I so needed it today. I had an EMG test on my feet and legs two weeks ago and I’m seeing my neurosurgeon today to get the results. I’ve had numbness in both that just keeps getting worse. I just kept putting off going to the doctor praying that God would just take it away – His timing not mine. You’ve heard the expression I’m sure “I’ve got cold feet”, well I actually have had some of that too, literally. But God is with me, my strength and my portion and I’m lending heavily on Him today. Thank you again for the reminder that I’m not alone.
