October has been a busy month for this Sandwich Generation Baby Boomer blogger and all of you reading SandwichINK. In addition to our normal topics, we’ve had Breast Cancer Awareness reminders, taken action by blogging about water needs around the world, and even touched on Christmas, which is just around the corner.
It’s good to stretch ourselves to help others out and about but it’s also important to monitor our loved ones and ourselves, up close and personal. We need to make sure we are doing well or we won’t be in any shape for caring for elderly parents OR grandkids!
It’s very easy to let our problems – whether health crises in our immediate or extended families, worry about the world and all the problems we read about in the newspaper, or holiday depression – become too mentally consuming. It’s vital that we keep our eyes focused and fixed on God, Who is greater than any problem we may face!
One of my favorite comforting Bible verses is Romans 15:13 (NIV):
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
This is great for Bible memory verses for us as well as our children and grandchildren. It’s a good one to write down, text ourselves, and just plain hunker down and meditate on. And if you collect simple Scripture verses for prayers, this is perfect!
I’m always looking for praise and worship hymn songs and music to combine with my favorite encouraging and comforting Bible verses and one that goes so well with this, and helps you as you meditate is In Christ Alone. Just look at the lyrics in the first verse! It’s wonderful! As I listen to it, it calms and relaxes me and fills me full of His hope, joy and peace.
In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand
Of course, I love ALL the lyrics to this encouraging praise and worship music and think you will as well!
This Smilebox eCard has In Christ Alone sung by Adrienne Liesching And Geoff Moore on their album, Secrets of the Vine. And I can’t resist – I LOVE this particular Smilebox ecard with all the lovely autumn leaves dancing down in a lovely Autumn Ballet. I’m not quick enough to capture it with my camera but I so love to watch it – in real life or this sweet Smilebox eCard for you. And the lovely, restful water is perfect for this week’s focus on water – a true gift from God whether physical or spiritual! 🙂
