PINK Saturday MOTHER'S DAY GREETINGS to all you special moms, grandmas, aunts, and loved ones! And in case the Sandwich Generation issues of caring for elderly parents and babysitting grandchildren have kept you so busy you haven't yet had a chance to buy or make your Mother's Day gifts, this is your official reminder, coupled with some easy to implement last minute gift ideas for that special senior mom or grandma to help you out.
Did I forget? Not this year (I'll never admit anything for prior years π ). Shhhh, don't tell in case they're listening, but I went traditional with books for my sweet seniors. They love to read or listen to audio books and I love to encourage them – both through reading AND through encouraging books. So we're all quite happy. And if you have a moment, you could easily run to Barnes and Noble OR send a gift eCard in the email from Barnes and Noble or, my personal favorite, Amazon. And guess what – it's even PINK. π
Potted plants are another sweet tradition – and there are plenty of pretty PINK options for those from flowers to cute things for the garden – perfect for those senior parents who love gardening.
If you'd prefer fun and easy crafts for you and the grand kids to give these special seniors, don't forget to check out yesterday's post, Easy Mothers Day Crafts for Grand kids and Seniors!
It's easy to get so wrapped up in caring for our elderly parents' physical needs that we totally forget those important emotional needs, like a reminder of how much we appreciate them even in this season of life. All in all, though, you still have plenty of time and lots of great and delightfully PINK ideas to get your own FAVORITE surprise for the special women in your life. And again, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
P.S. Don't forget, if you're reading this and totally out of time, you can always order a gift ecard from Amazon and just print it out on your own computer, pop it in an envelope or cute little bag, and voila – you have a lovely gift in spite of the busy-ness of your Sandwich Generation days. AND they'll enjoy picking their own surprise with your help – and having it delivered right to their front door. Enjoy! π
Happy Mother’s Day to you as well, Kay!
Hello Kaye, You are full of great Mother’s Day ideas. My dad could have used some of those ideas. HA! Every year we had to help him remember Mother’s Day and tell him what to buy. He picked out his own card. He grew up in a family that celebrated very little. My mom’s family made a big deal of every special day. Such is life.
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day and weekend.
Hugs, Jeanne
You too, Mary! π π π
Oh my, I know that feeling of mixed celebration backgrounds! My senior dad often asked me to shop for him as well. It was so cute. On Christmas and other special days, the last few years of his life, mom would open her gift while dad would look at me and say, “So, what did I get her?” with a twinkle in his eye. π Such sweet family memories for us both. Have a blessed weekend as well. π

What a great idea!I have anο»Ώ art idea for earth day or something.
I take blue and green paint on a circle and blow with a straw, and in the end it makes the earth. It might be fit for slightly older children, but I think it was cool.
I’m so late in my Pink Sat. visiting….this week FLEW!!!
Hope you had a great Mother’s Day…your gift suggestions are really good ones..thanks for sharing those with us!
