It's been another of "those" weeks for this Sandwich Generation granny nanny. Not uncommon for most of us dealing with the issues of caring for the elderly parents and relatives in our family while still raising children or babysitting grandchildren. No new big problems but LOTS of little frustrations. In addition, a hurting heart for several dear ones who are going through heavy trials, along with a need for some clear cut wisdom and discernment over a couple of vital issues. And then there was the disappearing website headache (only for a few minutes, Praise God! 🙂 ). From reading several posts all over, I appear to have a lot of company, too. Maybe you, as well?
Of course, as a result, I've also spent LOTS of time in extra prayer – for others and for myself. LOTS of time seeking His Word – in my regularly daily Bible studies, at church, and while listening on my iPod to verse-by-verse Bible studies.
And God is so awesome. He's been filling my heart with such encouraging and comforting Bible verses! In case any of you could use some extra encouragement, as well, I thought I'd share some of them with you:
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
Make me know Your ways, O LORD ; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation ; For You I wait all the day. Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old.
Psalm 25: 4-6
If the LORD had not been my help, My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence. If I should say, "My foot has slipped," Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold me up. When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your consolations delight my soul.
Psalm 94: 17-19
Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
1 Corinthians 4:18
Don't burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don't quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians.
Romans 12:11-13a The Message
Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
With all those Scriptures of encouragement to shore us up during this season of Lent 2011 and beyond, I am clinging hard to them and to my precious Savior, Who loved me so much that He suffered and died for me – and for you. I can do no less, no matter how many pressures in the Sandwich Generation life. I pray that these Scriptures have been an encouragement to you as well. And for more sweet blessings…
Enjoyed reading your blog today. Life can be tough for those of us in the middle. Blessings, Debbie
