Daily Living Made Easier

Health issues are one of the common causes of trials for the Sandwich Generation as we juggle caring for elderly aging parents with raising kids or babysitting grandchildrenHealth issues are definitely one of the biggest causes for heartache and fear for many of us in the Sandwich Generation. Usually it's due to our aging parents deteriorating health, but it can also be a special needs grandchild, an ailing husband, or even those of us caregivers with health issues in addition to OR because of our caregiving duties. Whatever the cause, these trials can definitely cause us to cry out before our Lord and plead for mercy, grace, comfort, and healing! And He is gracious and awesome and has blessed us with so many comforting and encouraging Bible verses – even before we prayed!

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Psalm 27:5 (NIV)

Whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. Proverbs 29:25b (NIV)

God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul. Ps 54:4

The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands. Ps. 138:8

And oh my – I can so relate to these words from Paul, can't you? Granted, our pressures may be different, but our AWESOME GOD is the SAME! And what a precious reminder of the value of prayer for us by others AND by us for others! – We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. 2 Corinthians 1:8b-11a

Whatever the trials we may be facing, our God is mightier and He can bring us through them and even use them in a powerful way to show His glory, to encourage us and, sometimes, use them in the lives of our loved ones, including our grandchildren, to point the way to Him. What a blessing and an encouragement for all of us in the Sandwich Generation

  2. This is so true. There isn’t anything our God cannot handle, and even when we don’t understand how He can, we can look back and see His mighty hand in our lives.
