May this Sandwich Generation granny nanny take a moment away from caring for elderly parents and babysitting grandchildren to sing the praises of AAA and their wonderful road assistance clubs plan.
I know they’re not the only roadside assistance auto clubs out there, and they may not be the cheapest. But I’ve been using them for over 40 years and they’ve always been there for my Sandwich Generation family and me. Barring a couple of times during bad weather with tons of people having car problems, they have generally arrived within about an hour. Sometimes even less than an hour! They’re always cheerful, courteous, and helpful. What a blessing! Especially for those of us hurrying to elder caregiving or child rearing duties.
AAA and their wonderful road assistance clubs personnel are this baby boomer's (flirting with senior citizen status) knights in shining armor! In fact, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I consider my membership with them as vital as my senior mom's cell phone or the medical alert systems for elderly seniors that another aging relative uses!
Car woes that require towing or other roadside assistance are always frustrating. For those of us caring for elderly parents and young kids or grandkids, it is triply so. Whether we need to pick a grandchild up from school, get an aging parent to a doctor appointment, or just need one less headache in our lives, having good roadside assistance clubs and plans is not a luxury for me, it’s a need. I am so grateful to AAA and their great roadside assistance programs for filling that need wonderfully for me. (Can you tell I was slightly desperate today!!! 🙂 )
