At church on Sunday, our pastor reminded us that Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. Then he read from Matthew 6 which includes one of the passages of "The Lord's Prayer." A few years ago, my grandchildren and I enjoyed learning that special prayer with the help of the little printable sheet to the left, but recently I've noticed they need a bit of a refresher. Talk about perfect timing for this week with the Day of Prayer AND our Bible memory verses on heaven for our children and grand kids.
What does the Lord's Prayer have to do with heaven, you might ask. It answers one of my grandkids' most common questions – "will there be ANY sin in heaven, Grandma?"
Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13
I love that this passage reminds us that God's will IS done in heaven and that leaves NO room for sin! My grandchildren are definitely looking forward to that and so am I!
Join me and my Sandwich Generation family in enjoying a lovely Word-Filled Wednesday full of more encouraging Bible verses, along with other creative ideas for leaving a spiritual legacy in the hearts and lives of our grandkids at Teaching What Is Good and Women Living Well. Don't forget to spend time praying tomorrow along with any of the grandkids or senior parents that may be around – for our whole world as well as each of our countries. It's a wonderful way of teaching our grandchildren to serve others by praying for them. And with all that's going on nowadays, we ALL definitely need that prayer so much, don't we….
Such a nice post.
I just LOVE the questions children ask! And the wisdom God gives to us to answer them. Isn’t it great when that answer comes from a passage of scripture we’ve seen thousands of times and never noticed? Thanks for linking this up today. Great post.
Heaven is a wonderful place and God is so excited to have HIS FAMILY join Him. We are HIS family. Isn’t that awesome and aren’t grandkids the most wonderful gifts in the world!
