Heavenly Christian Encouragement for Sandwich Generation Caregivers and Grandparents – John 14:2-3

My grandkids and I have started a fun and sweetly encouraging Bible memory verses project, great for all of our children and grandchildren. It all started when they began asking me all sorts of questions about heaven. I thought it would be a blessing to share this series with all of us in the Sandwich Generation, as these can be just as comforting Bible verses for our aging parents as for our young grandkids – not to mention ourselves. My goal is to share Scriptures in pictures on Wednesdays with the same verse and an accompanying song on Sundays.

I must say, though, I was surprised to find fewer songs about heaven than I had expected. Oh, I did find quite a few – especially in my old hymnal full of sweet Christian hymns, but not as many as I expected of contemporary praise and worship songs. SOOOO, I'm also asking for YOUR help in this project. I'd love to hear your favorite song(s) about heaven as well – old OR new. 🙂 

For this week, the Bible verse is:

In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 (NIV)

Isn't it great to know that He is preparing a home for us. I loved this song by Bill Gaither and his Homecoming Friends – Just Over in the Glory Land, featuring The Hayes Family. 

One of the joys for all of us in the Sandwich Generation is leaving a sweet spiritual legacy in the hearts and lives of our children and grandchildren. Another is to be a blessing to our beloved elderly parents with Christian encouragement as well as physical caregiving. What a fun way to do it with words and song, don't you think? 🙂
