GRANDCHILDREN JOYS
It’s GRANDPARENTS DAY! Happy Grandparents Day to all of my fellow Grandparents. It’s a fun time to exchange cute hugs if you live nearby or give a grandparent or grandkid a call to say HELLO – I LOVE YOU. You’ll be blessed. I got to do that earlier this week and I definitely was! Texting can work great too if you both have phones that can text. That’s especially helpful when your grandkids hit the tween and teen years.
For those grandkids living close enough to visit, trips to the local Amusement parks and zoos can be fun and some may offer discounts for boomers and seniors, like the Sacramento Zoo or even free entrance to grandparents, like Sacramento’s Fairy Tale Town is doing today. So call your local fun places quickly and enjoy a sweet spur of the moment get-together with your grandkids. (Roller skating, anyone? 🙂 ). Here’s my Pinterest page with some of the info. (Be sure to follow me on Pinterest for all SORTS of great resources and words of encouragement. 🙂 )
DEVOTIONALS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
Several dear friends, some of whom are fellow grandparents, are walking through a season of ill health or deep grief this month and I’m doing a lot of praying. I turned one of my favorite verses I relied on for my own dark season of grief into this photo to remind us that no matter how hard the waves hit, or how high they go, Jesus is our ROCK. God IS our ROCK of REFUGE. I pray this will be an encouragement to all of us this week and beyond.
And here’s a sweet video with one of the lovely old Christian hymns, Rock of Ages, sung by Chris Rice. Seemed like the perfect choice for this verse. 🙂
So encouraging! And a favorite for all ages – my senior parents loved it and so do I.
Don’t forget to listen to the next sermon in the Revelation series.
Have a blessed and beautiful week!

P.P.S. If you have Amazon Prime, I noticed that you can listen to this sweet song by Chris Rice for free – today for sure, many songs are often for long periods of time. 🙂
I love my various music playlists on my Amazon Music app! 🙂
I think Grandparents Day and prayer – the best gift any of us can give our grandchildren – is a perfect combination!
I also like how you mentioned “hugs” as a gift to us. I don’t need any material items at this point in my life – but those hugs are wonderful, and so much appreciated!
Thanks, Joyce. And sooo true. Have a blessed and beautiful week.

Love the verse and one of my favorite hymns. Thanks for posting!!
I plan to collect extra hugs from grands when I next see them in early November — getting closer every day! Thankful for technology that let us long-distance grandparents enjoy the special days with the little ones!
(Stopped in via GRAND social!)
Hi Marianna, thank you for your sweet comments. And OH, how fun! I’m hoping to see some of my soon and the rest in a little bit longer. And I’m so with you! Email, cell phones, Facetime and more are HUGE blessings to so many, including so many of us grandparents! 🙂
Have a blessed and beautiful week!
