The Bible is full of sweet words of encouragement and inspiration for grandparents in general. There are also a few verses that are specific to all of us grandparents and I'm sharing a few of those here to encourage all of us in persevering as we strive towards leaving a sweet Spiritual legacy of God's love in the hearts and minds of our grandchildren.
For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. 2 Timothy 1:5
Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9
Let all the earth fear the LORD ; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the LORD stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. Psalm 33:8-11
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised…We have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of Your temple. As is Your name, O God, So is Your praise to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness. Let Mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice Because of Your judgments. Walk about Zion and go around her; Count her towers; 13 Consider her ramparts; Go through her palaces, That you may tell it to the next generation. For such is God, Our God forever and ever; He will guide us until death. Psalm 48:1, 9-14
As for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And of Your salvation all day long; For I do not know the sum of them. I will come with the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone. O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds. And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come. Psalm 71:14-18
My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass. But You, O LORD, abide forever, And Your name to all generations…Psalm 102:11-12
I really appreciate all of these encouraging Bible verses. I pray they will be a blessing and an inspiration to all of us grandparents on Grandparents Day and beyond. Do you have any favorite verses that spur you on in your grandparenting? We'd love to hear about them! Have a blessed and beautiful day!
