Daily Living Made Easier

My grandkids enjoyed the shaped sidewalk chalk as much as the glitter and multi-colorChalk! Pretty simple right? White or yellow. On the chalk board. What's the news for us to talk about? Well, as many of us boomer and seniors grandparents already know, there is a WHOLE new world of chalk from when we were kids. And our grandkids LOVE it!

My grandkids and I have already had plenty of fun over the years with traditional chalk in brightly colored shades. While one set of grandkids does have a chalk board, our favorite place to use chalk is on the sidewalk. Whether it's just pictures they draw or a hopscotch game to play, it's a lot of fun. Our supply was getting a bit low so I headed out to pick up a new pack or two and was intrigued to notice some glitter and multi-color swirl chalk. How fun, I thought and bought a set of each for each set of grandkids. (Say that 5 times fast! 🙂 ).

While the Sandwich Generation granny nanny and grandkids had FUN with the chalk - we had a hard time seeing anything special about it - whether glitter OR multi-color swirls

Sadly, they turned out to be a bit of a bust. Oh, they worked on the sidewalk just fine – like regular chalk. But you reallllllly had to squint to see the multi-colors. And the glitter does show up…sometimes…in REALLY bright sunshine. I will say, this was chalk was not by Crayola (my favorite brand). I don't think Crayola offers these two choices. If they did, I would give those a try.

Whether the chalk was special or not - the grandkids pictures were great

It was a fun experiment that my grandkids and I enjoyed performing. But I'll have to admit, for the moment, I'll stick to regular chalk. Of course, that does leave open plenty of other fun options like SHAPED chalk. It doesn't do a single thing, but it does look cool. 🙂 For that matter, Crayola does offer a glow in the dark chalk. Hmmmm. That might be fun for NEXT year! 🙂  What's your favorite kind of sidewalk chalk for the grandkids?
