Daily Living Made Easier

I’ve been listening to one of my favorite pastors’ verse by verse Bible studies on the book of Psalms. It’s been such a blessing as I drive to and from babysitting grandchildren, especially since we’ve had some extra health woes plus are praying for extended family members – from young to seniors – who are going through tough times. What a joy to hear these encouraging Bible verses from Psalm 9:9-10 this week.

This castle is an excellent example of a stronghold to illustrate the encouraging Bible verses in Psalm 9 - perfect for the Sandwich Generation

The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, A stronghold in times of trouble; And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

And what a double blessing this week to have also read Peggy’s Word-Filled Wednesday devotion at her blog, Amazing Grace, with these sweet words of encouragement:

“With the Lord as the stronghold of my life. Hmmmm… stronghold? Many of us connote ‘stronghold’ with satan and ‘pulling down strongholds.’ But here are 2 of 7 uses in the OT, where this is used as a metaphor of God’s defenses and protection.”

As she pointed out, I’ve always thought of a “stronghold” as being bad. How wonderful to know that I can turn to GOD to be my stronghold AGAINST satan’s strongholds of fear and worry – something we caregivers are so often assailed with.

Don’t you love it when God spotlights a special verse or a special lesson for something you are going through? As a busy Sandwich Generation grandmother, this was so uplifting to me and I pray it will be for you as well, no matter what you and your family may be facing.

Hi Peggy, I, too, love Kay Arthur along with Beth Moore and highly recommend both of their verse by verse Bible studies, along with those of several fave Calvary Chapel pastors, and a couple of other awesome pastors I’ve found. LIke you, I find that “soaking myself” in the awesome Word of God is definitely the best blessing around for all of us and is what He uses to keep me going no matter what. 🙂 Thank you for such sweet words of encouragement. Have a blessed and beautiful week full of His love 🙂
