Daily Living Made Easier

It's AUTUMN! I've been delighted to discover so many other AUTUMN fans among the various blogs I visit which has made this fall season extra special. I've been blessed to enjoy fun autumn decorations and activities for grandparents and their grandchildren at both of my grandkids' home this fall. And we're in the throes of preparing for giving fun for both Halloween AND Christmas.

I know many people don't like Halloween but I've grown to love it. All my grandkids have fun dressing up and look so adorable. There are often fun activities at church and school that I get to enjoy with them. And seeing the smiles on the faces of neighbor children – new and familiar kids – puts a big smile on my face.

I especially love the ooooohs and ahhhhhhhhs when they see what I hand out for Halloween. At my house, you don't just get one little package of non-chocolate candy. No sir! I try to make mine especially interesting. They usually get one chocolate candy, one other candy, and one fun thing to tell them about the love of Jesus from the Word of God. Some years it's stickers while other years it's handmade greetings cards. And some years, like this year, it's cute "pass-it-on" cards and bookmarks!

All of them have cute and attractive pictures that catch a child's eye along with a positive statement and encouraging Bible verses that can plant a seed of God's love in a little ones' (or their parents') heart! What a fun way to celebrate Halloween! And what a great way for a busy member of the Sandwich Generation, busy caring for elderly parents and grandkids, to be a missionary in your own neighborhood! 🙂

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,

that we should be called children of God!

1 John 3:1 (NIV)

If you'd like to join me in this fun endeavor, just call or run down to your local Christian book store and ask them if they have any Halloween and/or regular "Pass-it-on" cards. Almost all Christian stores carry them – the regular pass-it-ons anyway. They're only about 15 cents each. I look specifically for ones that teach about the love of God using encouraging Bible verses and pictures that would appeal to children.

It's so much fun to do and sets such a great example for your own grandkids. Mine love to help me hand them out when they come by my house to show off their cute costumes.

Next Wednesday, I'll show you some of the regular ones I picked. And if you have a fun way of sharing seeds of God's love during Halloween, we'd love to hear about them. Until then, have a blessed week and be sure to pop over to Internet Cafe Devotions for more encouraging and uplifting Bible verses on this Word-Filled Wednesday.

By the way, don't miss out on future fun ideas, encouragement and activities for the Sandwich Generation…
