Woohoo! My grandkids are happy as clams with me right now. I've upgraded two to Minecraft 1.5.2. They each have some fun and creative mods they are enjoying exploring, including the long awaited Traincraft. (Now he just has to figure out what to do with it. 🙂 ).
The third should get his update in a day or two. Then it's time to update the server and learn how to add mods to the server. After that, I am hoping to start researching mods and maps that will work well with their school curriculum next year.
In the meantime, we've also enjoyed roller skating, dodge ball, and water play with the hose. We tried the water guns but, warm tho it was – the wind was blowing! Grandma froze!!!! So we pretended they were firemen putting a fire out in the big tree. Much more fun.
Then we took advantage of said wind and grabbed the kites I had picked up at a special sale. Lo and behold, these were new and "cool" kites. I had no clue! My grandson was THRILLED. I was pretty happy too because it was one of those days when I was tired so I enjoyed just sitting under the shady tree and watching him. That tree ALMOST captured the kite (there is still one kite stuck in it from autumn 🙂 ). Fortunately he made a daring save and all was well in the kite-dom.
Now it's back to coloring some decoration projects for our church's Vacation Bible School coming up soon. Are you or your grandkids helping out or attending Vacation Bible School near you? It's so much fun and a great learning time for all. And if the Sandwich Generation issues are keeping you to close to home, you might see if they have any craft preparation needs you could do right in your own home. A fun way to be a part of the excitement. We highly recommend it! 🙂
