It's time for our last verse in the Bible memory verses activities for grandparents and their grandchildren. We've been focusing on Bible verses for our grand children from the Love chapter of 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 and 13. (Don't worry if you missed any and don't have time to find them. Next week, I'm doing a RECAP post of all the Wednesday and Friday links to make it really easy for you and me to find them.
This week, I made a cute print-out of the verse, using Comic Sans font and pasting only 4 of the photos on it, so it would all fit on one page. I mainly used the really cute animal photos, but I added one of the photos of the grandkids' Webkinz stuffed animals – the crocodile / alligator. I was really intrigued by the reaction. They ALL focused on their beloved stuffed animal to the exclusion of the real animals. Very interesting! Needless to say, anything that gets them motivated to focus on a page full of God's encouraging Bible verses is always a hit for me!
My project activity plan for this week is to make further use of the photos of my grandkids Webkinz stuffed animals. If you didn't already do so, you might want to go through all their stuffed animals and toys with them and have them pick out ones for each of verse segments for 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 and 13. Photograph them, then print out the pictures.
With those ready, we can help them to make a collage out of all the photos – whether they glue them side by side or one on top of the other, or however they want to do it. I'm planning on printing out all the verses as well. I like to use Comic Sans in a big font to make it easy for them to read. They can either paste the whole verse on top of the creation OR cut up the different sentences and glue them individually on the page.
Older grandkids might prefer to make a lovely mosaic. We can have them tear the pictures into bits and pieces, then glue them onto a big sheet of paper in the shape of a giant heart. After that, they can paste the Bible verses on top of the mosaic.
Either way, I'll make sure one of the activities for grandparents and their grandchildren that will be at the top of the list is to read these inspirational Bible verses together with them at least a couple of times throughout the process.
You might also want to emulate Deuteronomy 6:5-9...
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
…by hanging the Bible verses in your own bathrooms and and play areas and giving copies to their parents to hang at their house as well, in order to encourage them to think about it throughout the day.
I found another cute song for our final choice of "Love is" kids praise and worship music for this series. Faith, Hope & Love (1 Corinthians 13:13) by the Faith Kids from their album Faith Kids Red
is a good way to help them memorize the last of these Love Bible verses for our grand children.
