How’s your weather? Our Sandwich Generation homes dealt with one storm last week and still had a few little remnants of snow left as of last Thursday.

. The snow from the first storm was past giving this Sandwich Generation granny nanny a chance for fun bicycle activities for grandparents and their grandchildren

Right in the middle, though, we had a day or two of delightful sunshine and warm temperatures, relatively speaking – 48 degrees instead of 8!

With that kind of setting, my grandkids and I were thrilled to head outside for some fun and physical activities for grandparents and grandchildren. We grabbed their bikes and scooters and headed around the block.  It was still too chilly for great-grandma so they enjoyed playing balloons with her later.  But first, we had fun in the sun while it lasted. Half way around one bike lost its air so I took it over to get it home while pedal power gave way to feet power for one grandson.

It was too cold for senior gardening for great-grandma so after the bike ride the grandchildren played balloons with her

Gleeful smiles.

Fun family memories.

Lots of happy photos.

Lovely…

Today, a different story.

The snow is back!

The snow is back and its back to indoor activities for grandparents and their grandchildren

I even had to grab my ice cleats for my church shoes!

It was icy enough today I had to wear my lightweight alternative to boots to keep from slipping in my church shoes

How great, to be able to get out and about in between storms like that–and with the grandkids. Being active with them seems like it would make for wonderful memories, and what a great example to set: being active is fun, whether you’re a kid or an adult.

Hi Kaye! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yes, those sleds are very easy to use. I like how the sides go up just a little. helps keep the kids in a bit more than the flat ones. My oldest daughter, who is 13 tried to use it and it didn’t work as well. I think it is because she was slightly heavier than my son. So for younger/lighter kids, I think it will work great! Blessings to you!

  1. I’m so jealous of the snow! It’s just cold here.

  2. Hi Angela, How fun – with plenty of cocoa in it, please 🙂 And those ice cleats are quite handy, I must say! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. Hi Shannon, it’s definitely purty BUT they are concerned about ice storms this time around. Doing lots of praying tonight 🙂

  4. Hi Joy, Thanks so much for letting me know. They are mostly younger and lighter, so sounds like they should work well. Be fun no matter what, I’m sure. Thanks again and have fun in the snow, y’all 🙂

  5. So true Leigh Ann! We really enjoyed those two days. Now it’s back to snow and storms and the Wii and Webkinz stuffed and virtual animals are calling our names 🙂 🙂 🙂 Along with checkers and puzzles. Very fun as well!
