Remember those plans I made on Monday for handmade greetings cards using the cute Melissa & Doug animal craft rubber stamps and washable ink stamp pads for kids, along with brightly colored cardstock and cute stickers? The stamps arrived and I tested them out. Boy, am I glad I did. A little practice definitely helps. But the third time was definitely "the charm." 🙂
My grandkids came over yesterday to ooh and aaaah with my senior mom over the gardening projects they planted with their great-grandma – more sunflowers for the Sunflower House coming soon! 🙂 Then we settled down at the kitchen table and went to work with gusto.
I added these cute shipping card tags to the mix in case they wanted to do bookmarks instead and, as it turned out, they mostly just used those. (Mine were all manila but they also make colored shipping tags including blue.) While they worked, I also made one very simple but cute bookmark for a dear friend of mine who lives in a care home in another state. Thanks to the stickers and fun animal rubber ink stamps, this is definitely one of those fun and easy crafts for seniors as well as the grand kids! And guess what – they really were wonderfully washable! As my grandson's hands can attest to. 🙂
When we finished up, we had some cute results that the grandboys enjoyed making and that I think their mom and great-grandma will both enjoy. And I gained a ton of fun new family memories that will last for decades, thanks to my trusty and easy to use digital camera. Definitely a fun time for all!
How about you and your Sandwich Generation family? Are you making special gifts for the elderly parents and relatives in your family or purchasing them? We'd love to hear about them. And shhhhh, we promise not to tell and spoil the secret. 🙂
Great ideas Kaye!
No crafts on this end, for Mother’s Day my hubby and I are cleaning up the planter in front of Mom’s door. We are putting in some white roses for her area so she will have a nice place to sit. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day! 🙂
Oh what fun you must have had!!! Your family is sooo creative!!!

Hey hey hey – how FUN! I literally just popped over to your site to leave a comment, then was closing up at SandwichINK but came to check comments and here YOU are – talk about GREAT minds on the same track. 🙂 It was fun – and we discovered we have to do a few more tomorrow for a sweet neighbor so I’m packing it in the car later. Thanks for popping over and again, CONGRATS on a lovely PINK SATURDAY feature. 🙂
Oh Paula, what a lovely gift you and your husband really are creating! And so very practical (that’s always my favorite kind of gift 🙂 ). Won’t she love the sights and lovely fragrance and sweet family memories of this delightful treat. Have a blessed and beautiful Mother’s Day yourself! 🙂
Kaye,
Thank you so much!!!!
