Love from 1 Corinthians 13 4-8 and 13 - Love does NOT delight in evil is illustrated by this snake and our Webkinz tiger snake

For our Bible memory verses activities for grandparents and their grandchildren, the verse this week was "Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth" from 1 Corinthians 13: 6. My grandkids and I talked about not giggling and egging each other on when a brother or sister does something wrong. We also discussed cheering each other on, not just at their Upward Soccer games and Awana awards ceremonies but also in every day situations when we "catch" someone doing something right.

I once heard of a family that created a special jar and decorated it. Then, whenever they spotted a family member doing something right, good, positive, etc., they would write it down (or the little ones would draw a picture) and put it in the jar. At the end of the week, they would have fun reading through some of the notes, plus draw one for a special goodie. That sounds like a fun way to put this verse into practice. What do you think?

As a Sandwich Generation Granny nanny, I already strive to do that, even without the jar, but this has convicted me that I need to do it even more often. Being positively proactive is vital for all ages, and that's an important point for our elderly parents as well. Our human nature tends to be so critical. So this week's challenge for my grandkids and myself is to work hard on being positively positive!

Webkinz Snake reminds us Love does NOT delight in evil

Speaking of positively positive, I positively got a lot of great feedback on this week's Bible verse photo. I'm with all of you who HATE snakes. ME TOO! But having grand-boys has definitely been a major learning experience and they LOVE snakes. I do love that they love the cute and cuddly Webkinz tiger snake as much as a traditional "icky" snake. Because I can not only enjoy that cute stuffed snake, but it also helps make a good point about guarding our reputations, as I discussed in Wednesday's "Adam & Eve’s Snake vs. Webkinz Tiger Snake – Reputation Talk for Bible Memory Verses Project for Grand-Children."

Definitely a lot of good lessons from this portion of the Love passage in 1 Corinthians 13: 4 – 8 and 13! And some good music! Including this week's song from Bible songs volume 1 and 2 by Rob Evans the Donut Man, This is My Command.

How about you? Got any great ideas for this or any other of our Bible Memory verses activities for the Sandwich Generation grandparents and their grandchildren? We'd love to hear.

P.S. Did you want to buy a Webkinz Tiger Snake or one of their other cute plush toys for a special grandkid? I did some research for you and discovered that the Webkinz Tiger Snake is now a retired Webkinz pet. That means they no longer make them, however at the time I wrote this, you can buy the cute Webkinz Tiger Snake online, though you may have to hurry. Amazon has some available including with free shipping. Just click here.

If they sell out, you could go with a Webkinz Citrus Dragon . Like the snake, a dragon has a bad reputation, but these cute Webkinz dragons have a very sweet reputation – which goes well with our Bible memory verses project. If you'd like to buy this Webkinz dragon online, just Click here.

Cute Webkinz plush toys like this sweet Webkinz Citrus Dragon are great for Bible memory verses activities for grandparents and their grandchildren

Our kiddos have been having some issues this summer with tattling on each other and being sarcastic when others do good things. It’s a hard, uphill battle…but I’m trusting we will get through it. Maybe the jar thing would be a good idea for us!!

You always have such great ideas … wish I was reading your blog when my kids were younger! ;0) But it’s never too late is it? It just gets a bit tougher to get them on board when they’re older!

Thank you so much for tweeting my Chores post! Really appreciate it! I’m tweeting this out now as part of TMT! ;0)

  7. Hi Julie, It’s a lot of fun. And Webkinz has it set up quite well over all, though there are a few things that are challenging even to me. Plus they are so popular that sometimes they’re a bit slow. But overall, we really enjoy it!

  8. Hi Melinda, I know exactly what you mean as I have older AND my kids aren’t that old either 🙂 One thing I love doing with older is just set up cds with good praise and worship songs of the style I know they love and keep them playing a lot – letting God’s Words and music soak in to their hearts and mine 🙂 Two current favorites at our house are Britt Nicole – starting with her album The Lost Get Found and Luke Benward – intermixed with LIncoln Brewster, Chris Tomlin, The David Crowder Band, Matt Redman, etc. 🙂 And boy, I really appreciated your chore ideas yesterday. I’m going to have to go back and re-read it and get that book. Thanks again 🙂

  9. Hi Kristen, I’m so glad you liked the idea. Have a blessed week. You’re in my prayers. 🙂
