Autumn leaves are falling down – sometimes lightly, sometimes in droves, and all guaranteed to turn this granny nanny's attention away from tag to enjoy the Autumn Ballet – but just for a minute or five and then it's back to the hunt!
This time, my grandkids have thought up a new way to play that's actually a bit easier and doesn't require quite as much running for granny nannies – though still plenty of running for grandkids. That's perfect for days we aren't feeling quite as energetic but we still want "get the wiggles out" activities for grandparents and their grandchildren. 🙂
The new twist? Ball tag. You have to throw or kick lightweight plastic balls – like you find in the grocery store or at Walmart. Don't use a heavy ball like soccer, volleyball or basketball. They can hurt – especially if they accidentally hit a face.
It actually puts me on a fairly even "playing field" with my grandsons. They are good runners and throwers and I'm not but being an adult I can make it go a bit further. No safe zones or bases for this game so that's fun. And for the littler ones who aren't as "up to speed" as their big bros or sis'? Just throw it close and get them and let them get you right back. They love being a part of it and you'll enjoy giggles galore along with adding to your sweet stock of family memories. If your senior parent is around and up to the cooler weather, they'd probably love to sit and enjoy the fun for a bit as well.
Don't forget to grab that easy to use digital camera while you are at it. My Canon Powershot digital camera got these, along with some fun and easy shots for the family slideshow! All in all, a crunchy lovely autumn day of fun and laughter. Perfect for this Sandwich Generation granny nanny and her grandkids. How about you? And by the way…
