This is such a wonderful Psalm! It’s also great reminder to all of us who are in the throes of caring for elderly parents, helping with the grandchildren, and juggling way more plates in the air than we can really handle – that GOD is the One Who will guide us, lead us, and provide for us. When we surrender everything to HIM, He will enable us to “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks,” for “we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God!”
There are several books that deal with this topic wonderfully. One excellent one includes Absolute Surrender by Andrew Murray. Â Not only has it stood the test of time in quality, but it can also be found free online. Just click here.
Over the years, I have been challenged by a couple of different pastors to daily tell God, “I give everything I have, and everything I am to You, Lord God. I surrender all of me to You!” God has kept reminding me to do this almost every day for years and I have never regretted it for a moment! This choice of surrender, no matter how imperfectly offered and imperfectly lived, has stood me in good stead through the loss of my husband, and God has continued to bless me as we have dealt with different health crises over the years. Truly, in HIS presence, there is fullness of joy.
One thing I did after my husband’s death was spend the dark days soaking my heart and my mind in praise and worship hymn songs and music. I don’t normally have music playing all day long, but for weeks, I kept it on non-stop. It was one of the most difficult seasons of my life but God held me close throughout the days, weeks, and still does, many years later. And one of the tools He gave me that helped was all the wonderful praise and worship music that I listened to then and still listen to.
There are many praise and worship songs I enjoyed then and that I enjoy now, that reflect the truth in these comforting and encouraging Bible verses. One I wanted to share with you today is a long-time favorite of mine. On Christ, the Solid Rock, I Stand
, sung by Avalon, from their album Double Take: Faith: A Hymns Collection
.
I pray that this lovely praise and worship music will soak your heart and mind in God’s power, His presence, and His love. And that His comforting presence will envelope you in His peace as you read these Bible verses over, write them on paper and in your heart, and engrave them in your mind. Have a blessed day!

thankful for the promises He gave and always keeps.
So nice to meet you. I’m Yoli and I’m coming through Spiritual Sunday. I can relate to the healing power of hymns. Whem my father passed away a few years ago, I did the very same thing. The music helped soften my pain and bring joy. It was a long healing process but it was a good one.
Yoli 🙂
Hi Yoli I’ve enjoyed your site as well. 🙂 Thanks for popping in and sharing. Excellent points. 🙂

I think listening to Christian music is a necessity. It so encourages us and blesses us. It reminds us of the promises of God, as so many of the lyrics are based on scripture. The Psalms are my favorite book of the bible. I love it when we sing them at church, rather than recite them. They were meant to be set to music. Thanks for sharing, and have a Happy Spiritual Sunday!
We used to sing this song in church a lot. We also sang “All to Jesus I Surrender.” Thank you for sharing this encouraging post.
Blessings,
Charlotte
