I love encouraging little mottos and sayings, don't you? Old Proverbs from days past. Of course, the encouraging Bible verses in Proverbs are always the best, but I also like other ones such as, "every cloud has a silver lining," or "it's always darkest before the dawn." One of my favorites is so full of hope. "I don't know what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future!" And best of all – it's the truth. I know this, in part, because of two more of my favorite and comforting Bible verses:
"For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD,
'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope."
Or, as my old paraphrase, The Living Bible, put it,
"For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.
Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
Jeremiah 29: 11
Along unfamiliar paths I will guide you;
I will turn the darkness into light before you
and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do,
I will not forsake you.
Isaiah 42: 16
Aren't those promises of God so very encouraging! During times when I have had to "walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death," these have been such sources of comfort to me. Knowing that, even though I did not know what was coming, God DID. AND He promised to give me a future and a hope. He promised to turn the darkness into light before us.
Yes, we will have trials and tribulations. That's in the Bible too! But even though we may go through suffering, you and I can KNOW that God is right there with us – NEVER forsaking us! We can totally and completely cling to that! I do, so very much!
And, thanks to LordSong, we can also sing it! On their album , I discovered this sweet song, I Know The Plans I Have For You and popped it into a Smilebox eCard, just for you. 🙂
