Thanksgiving is Thursday; for all you shopping fiends, Black Friday is…Friday 🙂 (nope, too busy juggling the Sandwich Generation issues to garner the energy to fight those crowds – I prefer the online deals like Walmart and Amazon will be offering 🙂 ); and Sunday is the first Sunday in Advent! But aren't you proud of us. Thanks to fun craft activities for grandparents and grandchildren, my grandkids and I already have a bit of a Christmas gift stockpile! Plus three of them and I added to it this past week with some judicious Christmas shopping.
I had some fun time scheduled with the three BUT it was too cold to play outside, we couldn't work inside due to Thanksgiving goings-on with their preparations, and I needed a fun and practical activity within my budget. Woo-hoo, I had it! Off to the Dollar Store we headed. With a budget of $1 per person, I shepherded these sweet boys around, picking out gifts for mommy, daddy, and sissy, along with getting some cute Christmas wrap and bags. Then it was time to head home, take over one bedroom, and get the gifts all wrapped up.
Usually their mom and dad take turns doing this fun trip, but this year is turning out to be so much busier than the norm. That gave me the chance to have fun shopping with them instead. And thanks to the Dollar Store, they were able to get creative and practical gifts for very reasonable prices. Oh what fun it is to ride and sing that sleighing song tonight – as we drove home with our prizes. And oh, what delightful family memories we created! 🙂
How about you? What holiday activities for grandparents and grandchildren have you and your family been enjoying this Thanksgiving week? We'd love to hear about your sweet new family memories!
