Daily Living Made Easier

In this season of Christmas, the word JOY is used frequently – from joyous Christmas praise and worship music to holiday greetings. I love to encourage others in the Sandwich Generation with prayers for them to have a joy-filled holiday. As I was sitting in church looking up a Bible verse for the sermon, I spotted some intriguing and encouraging Bible verses on JOY that I thought would be a blessing for all of us on this Word-Filled Wednesday.

The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; Luke 2:10

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. Mt 2:10

But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You. Psalm 5:11

For You, O LORD, have made me glad by what You have done, I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands. Psalms 92:4

Sing for joy to God our strength. Psalm 81:1

As members of the Sandwich Generation, dealing with the issues of caring for the elderly parents in our family along with children or grandchildren, the last of these encouraging Bible verses, Sing for joy to GOD OUR STRENGTH, is my favorite of these uplifting verses! It's so easy to get stretched beyond our limits, finding ourselves with little or no strength though our to-do list keeps growing. Those are the moments I'm so comforted to be reminded that it's God Who is our strength! And for more words and verses of encouragement on this Word-Filled Wednesday in the last week of Advent…

As a member of the Sandwich Generation, I definitely appreciate your post this week. Sometimes it’s hard to feel joyful. But then I’m reminded that these are my daughter’s formative years and my mother’s declining years. I know that one day I’m going to look back at all the time of stress and overwhelm with nostalgia. I praise God in this moment because He has blessed me so tremendously (even if I am caught in the middle).
Merry Christmas and peace, joy and prosperity to you and your family in the New Year!
