Daily Living Made Easier

Merry Christmas in July AND Happy Pink Saturday to the Sandwich GenerationLast week, it was SOOOO hot, I was thinking of Christmas longingly just for the snow factor. This week, it's rainy, cloudy, cooler (we'll ignore the humidity), and has me thinking of AUTUMN. Fall, as you may know, is my VERY favorite season and I'm trying to be patient with summer, but I'm REALLY starting to look forward to fall. Kicking leaves with the grandkids, playing games with them outside for longer than five minutes because the temps are so nice, long walks with my senior mom who is house-bound or mall-bound with all this heat! Oh, I can't wait!

Another thing I love about fall is all the easy Christmas crafts for the grand kids to enjoy as we prepare for gift-giving. For that matter, they are nice and easy for all of us seniors helping them as well. Always a good thing since I'm a wee bit "klutzy" when it comes to crafts. I love them. But I'm not that great at them. But that's OK for the projects we work on.

Some of our favorite easy crafts for kids and seniors is decorating wooden ornaments like this cute butterfly

My long distance grandkids and I got to enjoy some craft fun last month with wooden plaques I found at the Dollar Tree. They had a great time, and all the finger mess cleaned up easy, thanks to my fave – Crayola washable markers.

My grandkids hands got quite messy from this project but thanks to Crayola washable markers - clean up was a breeze

Walmart is already putting out there back-to-school items and I bet other stores are too. Tis the season to watch for the sales and stock up on all the washable products by Crayola. They won't be as dirt-cheap as the regular products, but they are WELL worth the extra cost!

Of course - the Sandwich Generation granny nanny is partial to these unique and personalized Christmas tree ornaments handmade by my grandchildren and photographed with my easy to use digital camera

I checked with another favorite resource, Michael's, and they are have their plastic ornaments out for decorating but haven't yet got their wooden ornaments in. We love to decorate these as gifts for their moms and dads. I'll have to keep my eyes on their ads and grab some as soon as they arrive. In the meantime, if you are also looking for Christmas fun in the heat of July, Debbie-Dabble is enjoying Christmas in July complete with the sweet sights AND sounds of Christmas and plenty of other fun links to even MORE Christmas fun!  And another online friend with Christmas on her mind is Tip Junkie who is hosting a Christmas in July blog party full of fun ideas, tutorials, and a ton of giveaways. Too fun!

My grandkids loved these easy coloring crafts for seniors and kids - and already had one hanging on the bedroom wall the same night

And don't forget to pop back by tomorrow when I hope to be joining in again this year for "Where Bloggers Create 2012." It's so much fun to visit other websites and see their creative workspaces. I got a lot of great ideas last year and am looking forward to it all over again this year. It's like taking one of those lovely home tours that are so hard for those of us in the Sandwich Generation to be able to get to. But this is right in our own home and own computers. 🙂  And speaking of lovely fun right in our own computers – Happy Pink Saturday as well. 🙂

For the Sandwich Generation granny nanny and grandkids the day was a sweet time full of wonderful family memories and traditions
