I used to be able to sleep anywhere at any time. Not so much now, thanks to those baby boomer changes like arthritis and aging. 🙂 In fact, some nights, even in my own bed with my own pillow, sleep doesn't always come easily. That happened earlier this week. As usual when I can't sleep, (whether because of caffeine too late or worries about Sandwich Generation problems or dealing with grief and loss issues or all of those and more) I grabbed my Bible and started reading. What a comfort and an encouragement. And what a sweet reminder of this comforting Scripture from my 10 from Sunday…
Life isn't always easy, and there will always be trials and tribulations interspersed. But God will ALWAYS be there and HE is the One who makes me to…
In peace, I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety! Psalm 4:8
What a sweet reminder for all of us in the Sandwich Generation. And what a cute way of teaching another of the comforting Bible memory verses to our grandchildren, don't you think?

Kaye,
What a fabulous idea for a blog. I know so many people who are caught in this stage of life between caring for elderly parents and helping with grandkids. What a great encouragement you are.
I know what you are trying to say. Sometimes the everyday life seems to take hold of me, too. I try to remember that I do not have to carry the load by myself and that always helps me sleep. I hope that you continue to share the word of the Lord with the world. We all need to know the truth. The Lord is always with us in good times and bad.
Thanks for coming by to visit my blog. I sure like yours! This post hits home. Though my mom is not yet elderly, her illness has caused some decline and many of the responsibilities I have (or will have) are similar to someone caring for an elderly family member. Having young children at home makes me the insides of that sandwich. Thanks for blogging. I’m excited to poke around.
Also, I just ordered a new book called “Leaning Into Sharp Points: Practical Guidance and Nurturing Support for Caregivers.” Have you heard of it? I wonder what your thoughts are. I’ll begin reading it tonight — while I’m not sleeping. 😉
