Daily Living Made Easier

Happy Sunday! For those of you who aren’t able to get to church today, because of caregiving duties or because of illness (that’s me, too, this week 🙂 ), or for you to share with an aging parent who is housebound, I wanted to share some intriguing verses that were linked together in a podcast I listened to this week by Pastor John Miller. He is teaching theology and Christology classes on Wednesday nights at his church, Calvary Chapel San Bernardino. I have been thoroughly enjoying listening to them in bits and pieces as I am busy driving all my caregiving charges around town.

This particular sermon was discussing Jesus’ deity. Some of the verses he gave, showing the claims Jesus made coupled with their Old Testament link, included:

Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. John 17:5

“I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. Is. 42:8

When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One ; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore , and I have the keys of death and of Hades.Revelation 1:17

“Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: ‘I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me. Isaiah 44:6

“I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” [Jesus speaking] John 10:11

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. Psalm 23:1

Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I AM .” John 8:58

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM “; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.'” Exodus 3:14

I was so encouraged and blessed as I read these verses and so many others that show the deity of Christ Jesus. I love to see how the Old Testament and New Testament fit together so wonderfully.  In a world full of uncertainty it is such a blessing to be able to stand firm on God’s Word, certain of Who Jesus Christ is.

Have a blessed Sunday!
