I may have just wrapped up the 1 Corinthians "Love is" Bible Memory verses series of activities for grandparents and their grandchildren at SandwichINK, but my grandkids and I are still working on it for one more week. Well, really, one more day. After that, it's on to their Awana verses. Today's Word-filled Wednesday seems like a wonderful P.S. to that series for all of us in the Sandwich Generation, from grandkids up to senior parents, to be blessed with.
Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear , O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:29b-31
I went with the King James Version for the heart. But I have to say, I love the way the Message puts this as well:
Jesus said…The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.' And here is the second: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment that ranks with these."
Aren't those great Bible verses for our grand children, as well as us! Wonderful for encouraging, teaching, and shaping! For more uplifting Word-filled Wednesday Bible verses for the Sandwich Generation, be sure to visit Internet Cafe Devotions. 🙂
Love your graphic and the truth that it tells.
A great P.S. for all us. Blessings to you & have a great WFW!
That is simple and beautiful! I think those are wonderfully important topics to teach children… the lessons I learned in Sunday School were the seeds of Life, planted in my heart. Eventually they produced fruit for the Kingdom.
God bless you this WFW Kaye!

Hi Amanda, I experienced this as well. It took 20 years, but eventually, God turned those seeds into flowers of faith for which I am eternally grateful! 🙂
Hi Ozjane, Thank you. Hope and pray you are feeling better this week! 🙂
Hi Wanda, Thank you – and to you as well 🙂
Hi Lori, Thank you. And thanks for the delightful post on surrender. I’m still thinking about it hours later! 🙂
A beautiful picture and a great verse for us all but especially our grandchildren. Our children and grandchildren should be taught these verses when they are young.
Hi From the Heart, AMEN! That’s why I LOVE BIble memory verses activities for grandparents and their grandchildren. Whether we are helping them learn school, Sunday School, or Awana verses OR teaching them verses we’ve selected, it’s an eternal gift we can bless them with, that turns around and blesses us as well, doesn’t it? And what lovely family memories it gives us. Pure joy!
“All we need is love…..all we need is love, love…love is all we need.”
The beautiful truth is that LOVE is what we are called to be and live. What greater gift can you pass down to those grands of yours than a legacy of love? Awesomeness!
peace,
lori
Thanks so much for stopping over and thanks for sharing! Excited to check out the Bible verses for Grandchildren…as my grandsons 2 & 4 will be spending a week with Nana and Papa next week! Excited to get some time with them, they live 500 miles away so don’t get to see them much!
Blessings Kaye… What a wonderful HEART with one of the BEST commands to engrave on our hearts and that of our loved ones from young to old that they all may know the love of our Lord & one another, focusing on Him rather than other “stuff”. J.O.Y. The first WFW that I came upon was JOY and now this one, shows us that JOY is Jesus, Others, Yourself… God loves you & each of your treasures in those grandkids…how blessed they are!!! EnJOY the AWANA verses; they are such a good foundation! Thanks Kaye!
I plan on hanging this graphic and verse on the fridge, where my grands and I will see it and hide it in our hearts! I also love the Message version. Always encouraged by you, Kaye!
