Baby Boomer Metabolism

Don’t you love the baby boomer metabolism? The pounds that were so easy to get rid of in our 20s now linger and linger and linger… Like the “Energizer Bunny!” I’ve been walking. I’ve been pedaling on the mini exercise bike. I’ve been playing tag activities for grandparents and their grandchildren! Sigh! OK, I confess, I’ve also been munching on Oreos and enjoying those irresistible Dairy Queen Blizzards (Chocolate Extreme!). My weight has gone up another 5 pounds so I am officially 10 pounds OVER my acceptable weight and 20 pounds over my ideal weight.

I know myself well. If I let it go any further up, I’ll never be able to lose it. I can lose 10 pounds – maybe 15. Then I lose my motivation. So, on Saturday, as I headed into the grocery store, I realized the time had COME! I needed to get myself back on the Southbeach Diet – Phase 1 – ASAP! This high protein, low carb diet plan enables you to lose weight while eating healthy, has plenty of yummy recipes, and we NEVER have to go hungry! Talk about a win-win-win plan! Grabbing my wonderful iPhone, I looked up South Beach Diet Recipes in Google and reminded myself of the foods I used the last time. Standing in line with a basket full of healthy and tasty foods, I had another brainstorm.

South Beach Diet Recipes App

Checking my cell phone again, i discovered they had a South Beach Diet mobile app – and it’s FREE!  Gotta love it!

This cool mobile app has daily tips, hints, suggestions, recipes, and reminders. There’s a yummy sounding recipe from August 15 that  I’m going to try out next week – White Bean and Spinach Salad with olive oil, garlic, and onions. Sounds scrumptious, doesn’t it!  It has the South Beach Diet basics to complement the book, The South Beach Diet, along with links to the forums and a ton more. VERY handy!

Going up and down stairs 5 extra times daily can be great boomer and senior fitness - but you will need more than this cute puppys three steps

A different day’s tip was the great suggestion to use any stairs you may have at home and/or work as your own, personal, and free boomer and senior “fitness equipment.” I already appreciate the stairs at both our homes since I’d probably weight a lot more without them! But I liked their idea of adding 5 extra trips up and down daily specifically for exercise. Being a very goal/task oriented type personality, that’s the kind of goal that will spur me on! When I’m not playing monster tag with grandkids, of course!

Eating Healthy Benefits Baby Boomers

The wide variety of Sandwich Generation issues can keep us going nonstop some days. Staying healthy and in shape is a vital way of keeping up with everything we need to do!  How about you and your baby boomer metabolism? Doing good or needing to shed a couple of pounds? If you’re like me, you’re always looking for creative ways to raise your metabolism and fight off the baby boomer calories! If so, I definitely recommend the South Beach diet and its delicious recipes . It’s my favorite and fastest and safe method and very healthy as well! AND you do NOT have to go hungry on it! To me, that’s the BEST of all.  🙂

  4. Hi Traci, You are very welcome. 🙂 I make it easier by sticking to the same basic 3-4 foods for a week, which I’ll be writing about tomorrow. You definitely don’t have to do that. There are a ton of yummy sounding recipes out there. I just tend to follow my dad’s footsteps in being able to eat the same thing for days. 🙂 So that helps. Have a blessed week! 🙂
