AUTUMN BLISS FOR BOOMERS AND SENIORS
I am so thrilled that our temperatures, while popping up into the 90s for a day or so, are again headed straight back down to the 80s. Hooray. Autumn is truly here, the leaves are starting to turn, and I’m continuing to enjoy autumn bliss offline AND online. Online you ask? Yup! Between Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Fall Blog Linky Parties, I’m thoroughly enjoying every gorgeous autumn color you can imagine. What a sweet treat for the senses!
CARING FOR ELDERLY PARENTS
Even though summer has said good-bye, my senior mom and I are still enjoying walking in the swimming pool. It’s great exercise for both of us and something she can do more easily than most other exercises. It’s an indoor pool that’s heated so theoretically we should be able to do it year round. I tend to get too cold in the winter months while she used to enjoy it all the time. I’ve noticed this year that she is getting chillier too. So we shall see.
One thing we both noticed is that we have been getting foot and leg cramps while walking. That’s never happened before and I’m not sure why. Perhaps the rubber pad they use to walk on? Though I’ve walked on these at other gyms as well??? I decided to get us both some adult women swim shoes to see if that would help. We tried them for the first time today. They aren’t the prettiest things in the world. BUT, my mom only got one minor cramp that went away quickly and I didn’t get any. So I’m hoping these will be a good solution for us both and thought I’d share the idea with y’all in case any of you have ever had this issue. And YES, if you have suggestions, do share them as well. 🙂
GRANDCHILDREN JOYS
It’s such a sweet treat when a grandchild calls us, isn’t it? And even better when they want our advice. A couple of my granddaughters called yesterday and asked if I had any fun easy kids crafts for autumn to suggest as they wanted to do some that afternoon. I shared some fun and easy ones like making Thanksgiving turkeys with hands, similar to the wreath we did a few years ago – then writing people or things they were thankful for on each feather. I also added a couple of goodies quickly to my Pinterest board, Grand for Kids and Grandkids and sent them the link for that. They were quite excited, indeed. And I can’t wait to see what they made.
BIBLE DEVOTIONS FOR BABY BOOMERS AND SENIOR CITIZENS
More of my favorite encouraging and comforting Bible verses…
Here are my latest coloring pages for kids as well as adults including a Christian and inspirational quotes coloring page.
“Nothing But the Blood Of Jesus” is one of the lovely old Christian hymns that I do so love. We sang it in church this week as we took communion and it was such a sweet blessing. When I went looking for a video for it, I discovered several different versions – all beautiful. Some were sung very slowly. Some were sung really fast (one of my fave versions is like that 🙂 ). I saved all the ones I loved to my Sunday Sunday Blessings playlist at Youtube, along with a few other lovely hymns I discovered along the way. That way you can enjoy listening to as many or as few others as you would like. But I chose this version, by Guy Penrod who often sings with the Gaither family, for sharing here as the tempo was right in the middle. Not too slow, not too fast. And very sweetly encouraging – as were all the other versions as well, no matter the tempo, due to the awesome words including, “What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus; What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Such a vital truth for us all!
One of my fave Bible teachers, David Guzik, continues his sermon series on the book of John at YouTube. You can find his church’s channel by CLICKING HERE. I’m also adding this sermon series to a playlist at my own YouTube channel – Bible Studies – Verse By Verse each week, to make it easy to find it and others as I share them.
Have a blessed and beautiful week!
Kaye
