Daily Living Made Easier

Great news first! For baby boomers and seniors, that's always a nice treat, isn't it. 🙂  And that news continues to be Autumn is getting closer and closer! Our own weird weather summer is coming to an end. And hints of fall keep popping up everywhere. Hooray!

The autumn colors are creeping in - fall is on the way - hooray say Kaye Swain the Sandwich Generation granny nanny and her grandkids

And my senior mom and I are so appreciating it, especially since this year's gardening projects, including the Sunflower House, didn't do so well. We're definitely ready for a change!

The Sandwich Generation granny nanny and senior mom were sad to see this gardening specimen so droopy

We're also very grateful for sweet neighbors, who did have better results.

My senior mom and this Sandwich Generation granny nanny are blessed by wonderful neighbors everywhere we go

And my grandkids and I are exulting in the cooler temps, the lovely days, and more pleasant outdoor fun with friends, including a delightful pizza party in the front yard, followed by three young ladies having a blast climbing some of my trees.

Isn't this Ralph Lauren Teddy Bear Polo sheet adorable? And perfect for a grandkid picnic in the yard – full of shades of red for Rednesday. 🙂 I just wish I'd remembered to grab the cute red plates and napkins from the Caregiving goodie bag I got last week. Ah well – they will work wonderfully for other pizza parties coming up during the autumn season. 🙂

The not so great news? NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center: La Niña is back – "La Niña, which contributed to extreme weather around the globe during the first half of 2011, has re-emerged in the tropical Pacific Ocean and is forecast to gradually strengthen and continue into winter." Which may mean the continuation of the wacko weather we've seen this year! Oh me, oh my, what's a Sandwich Generation granny nanny to do? Why, keep on enjoying these autumnal moments for as long as they last, of course! 🙂 AND enjoying the few good senior gardening projects that we still have like these.

My senior moms herb gardening projects like the rosemary plants and these lovely green plants did do well

I'm again enjoying linking up to Sweet Shot Tuesday – if you'd like more easy to use ideas for your digital camera, be sure to click on her 31 days of photo tips at the bottom of her page. As all of us grandparents in the Sandwich Generation know, we LOVE to get LOTS of photos of our cute grandkids and their friends. 🙂

When the crops came out well they looked beautiful. We have all had a very unpredictable summer.

    Hey Kaye,

Great shots. So glad you are enjoying this weather. Nice plants you have there.

Hope you’re having a great week so far!!

  1. It must be great having nice weather. We are still burning up in Texas. It was 106 today. Everything is dying as we are on strict water limits.

  2. I know, I’m weird: but I like to see things dying in the fall, because it means new life is coming in the spring!

    I’ve nothing to give but my heart and head;
No colors have I but yellow and red.

Please take what I give as tokens of peace:
And with these small gifts may your joy increase!
