Did you know Autumn started YESTERDAY! Just kidding! ๐ When I was “chatting” on Google+ yesterday, one writer announced he just had his first ย Pumpkin Spice latte of the season from Starbucks, so it must be Fall. While there were a few disparagers, the AUTUMN-LOVERS among us immediately agreed. It was a very enjoyable few minutes break for this busy Sandwich Generation grandmother and helped me forget the 98 degrees outside (though I hear it’ll be mid-70s by Monday – YAY!!!!).
Michael’s Arts and Crafts apparently agrees that it is autumn, though. My grandsons and I stopped by and discovered several of their fall foam projects were on sale this weekend – probably for Labor Day. As I added some goodies to my cart,ย I immediately thought of you and wanted to make sure you knew about it as well.
As you may know, I LOVE harvest projectsย but do NOT care for the spookier side of Halloween like witches and ghosts.
Since I have grandBOYS as well as grandGIRLS, though, there definitely needs to be some give and take, so we agreed on the Halloween house but NO witches and ghosts – and bought these cute Autumn pumpkin and sunflower stickers to replace any of those.
I could live with the skeleton my oldest grandson loved – as long as we treated it like a worthy science project for teaching the human body to the kids by learning the names of some of the major bones. And since only one did that project today, we get to do it one or two more times – meaning the names will sink in even better. ๐
WOW! Did you know DK has an EXCELLENT book for us to share with the grandkids, “The First Human Body Encyclopedia!” Very interesting, some great pictures of skeletons with the parts identified, and an excellent resource for educational activities for grandparents and grandchildren. ๐
Spiders are fine too – since God made them and they have good properties as well as bad.ย I LOVE that they eat so many nasty bugs.ย I’m less crazy about the spider webs I keep running into outside.
And cute fall pumpkin decorations are always fun in our homes.
This was a nice package as there are enough supplies for each to make several monsters and bugs.ย
Now this Sandwich Generation grandparent and grandkids have some fun autumn projects to work on. Very autumnal – especially since, in spite of the heat, I’ve noticed our autumn ballet has begun with leaves dancing around us while working outside at the picnic table. Hooray! ๐ And for those of you with Hobby Lobby nearby instead of Michaels – their autumn and fall supplies and crafts are on sale this weekend too! So do you think YOU will be shopping for any fall projects for grandparents and grandkids? We’d love to hear. ๐

I love me some pumpkin spice latte…so tasty…I usually have the grands decorate paper bags/ bigger than sandwich size but smaller than grocery size. Our local Fresh market usually gives me 3 if I ask and I buy some of their treats from there. I have to remember to have them turn them so the decorations are in the right direction when the bag is being filled. They really seem to enjoy doing them & their parents don’t have to keep or store their sack. Take care and have a great Labor Day weekend.
I love fall! It is on it’s way! ๐ I couldn’t believe the last time I was in Hobby Lobby they already have their Christmas things out! I want to enjoy fall just a bit first. ๐
What fun and easy crafts for the grand kids, Donnie. And how nice to get to see you – I’ve missed you ๐ ๐ ๐ Praying all is going well with you! ๐ Thanks for stopping by.
I’m with you Jennifer! I love autumn with all the fun fall harvest projects and crafts for the grand kids and us seniors! So we focus on that til Thanksgiving. The one exception is if we are making Christmas gifts, those we have to start early on. ๐ But even then, that’s also a part of our fall ritual – very fun ๐
