Would you like to hear some amazing singing? I received the link to this Amazing Grace video Il Divo recorded at the coliseum in my email yesterday. It is so beautiful! I wanted to share it with all of us in the Sandwich Generation so that you might take a few minutes to just let the music and the words soak into your heart and encourage you mightily.
I have to admit, I had never heard of the performers before. Il Dvio is an operatic group. After hearing and seeing this delightful video, I decided to check them out a bit further.
According to the editorial review, the singers in Il Divo are four of the greatest operatic voices in the world who have been bringing the sound of opera to the world of popular music since their debut in 2002. It would appear they sing in English, Spanish, and Italian.
I am not an American Idol watcher. There are too many other shows I prefer, like all the Law & Orders, along with all the CSIs, NCIS, Numbers, etc. I am, however, familiar with some of the people from Idol, including Simon Cowell. I was interested to discover from Wikipedia that ll Divo was created by Simon Cowell. Guess I’ll be able to think about him a bit more positively in the future 🙂
All in all, it was quite interesting to learn about them. They offer an intriguing sound to a wonderful old hymn and I hope you enjoyed the music and the info, as did I. If you are interested in hearing more of their music, you might be interested to know that they have a Christmas CD. It had an interesting mix of Christmas hymns, Christmas popular songs, Christmas opera, and even a lovely rendition of ‘Over the Rainbow.” Definitely an eclectic combination that you’re not likely to already have. I listened to the samples at Amazon and thought it would make a lovely addition to a Christmas CD collection. I’ve added it to my calendar to remember to put it on my list of Christmas CDs to give to my children and grandchildren. (Can you believe it, I really do plan that far ahead sometimes!)

P.S. For those of us with Amazon Prime, the streaming version of the Christmas album is included free. That is also true of the song Amazing Grace found in the video Il Divo recorded that I mentioned above. Great adds to your Amazon Prime app, for sure. 🙂

I am so pleased you like IL Divo, anyone who hasn`t taken interest or listened to them properly are missing out. I have been to for of their concerts One on their first tour, one in 2007 and 2 this year 2009 gibe me more more more.
Il Divo became our favorite group to listen to over the Christmas season! The great thing about the CD is that it includes many not-so-Christmasy songs, as well, so we can listen to it all year long!
They also have three other cd’s – Il Divo, Siempre and Ancora which are earlier than the Promise. The Christmas CD was only sold in the US because it is in English only. They are well received around the world because most of their songs are in Spanish and Italian with some Portugese. I believe all CD’s hit #1 in the UK and in many countries around the world, including the US. Right now they are on tour in Europe and will be in Canada and the US during May – July. If you go to YouTube Il Divo videos you can see and hear more of their concerts. However some are much better than others – it is hit or miss because they are taken by fans at the concerts.
