Advent officially starts Sunday. But the Christmas spirit has bit my Sandwich Generation family BIG TIME. We've already done some Christmas shopping; the Christmas tree is up and in the process of being decorated, a couple ornaments at a time as the grandkids come to visit; and Christmas music is often found playing in my car and house.
One of my grandchildren and I were singing a favorite old carol together, Angels We Have Heard on High. When we finished, he asked me what it meant. We had fun looking up the Bible passage that went with this lovely carol and working through the lyrics and the Scripture together. Then, we decided that would be perfect for this Christmas season – a fun way to teach them more about the songs they've grown up hearing and a sweet opportunity to hide more Scripture in all our hearts.
I made two cute pictures – one to teach the verses that Angels We Have Heard On High is based on.
There appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, 14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased. Luke 2:13-14
The second, which is currently in my iPhone, is a joy-filled reminder from the Psalms that God has long promised His people His peace. Such sweet joy.
The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace. Psalm 29:11
And, of course, a couple of coloring pages for our grandkids to enjoy.
Such a delightful way of leaving a sweet spiritual legacy in their hearts, don't you think? I hope you'll join us on this fun Advent Adventure as we prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas. Have a blessed week!
Oh, how I love angels and these little angels are so cute! What a wonderful way to celebrate advent and the Christmas season! Thanks for stopping over at my blog and leaving a kind comment!
In His Love, Ann
Very nice and inspiring post. Enjoyed it very much.
You’re way ahead of me. Still waiting for my husband to get our tree down from the attic! Love listening to Christmas music in the car. There’s a station that started playing it 24/7 about two weeks ago. They start sooner and sooner every year!
Happy REDnesday,
Carol
Oh I love these. I remember seeing what you did last week I think. Silly me I thought I signed up for emails but quess I didn’t. I did tonight though. I love getting emails about posts.
Thanks for sharing I love these. You give great ideas. I would love to do these with my grandkids.
Have a Blessed Thursday,
Sherry
Thank you, Kaye, these are adorable. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit it, but I can’t help but think of Charlie Brown and the gang when reading, “There appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying…” Too much television along the line, it seems.
I’m making nearly all of my gifts this year, for budgetary reasons, and I have lots and lots left to do. We’ll be decorating the house this weekend though, as my family’s annual cookie swap is the following weekend, with nearly 30 in attendance.
Thank you for sharing and linking!
Kaye, these are really cute! Amara and I got the Christmas tree put up yesterday and I have a little bit of shopping done — but a long ways to go! Hope it is a great day!
How fun Grandma Kc! Merry Christmas 🙂
Hi Lisa, I just taped that for the grandkids. 🙂 And how fun to be making your gifts. Those are full of such sweet and special family memories for the giver and the receiver. Thanks for another great linky party!
THanks Sherry, I’m so glad you signed up – they should go out once a week or so. 🙂 Have fun with those sweet grandchildren!
Hi Carol, we have a couple of local stations that have done the same. I have to admit, as much as I love the carols, I wish they would intermix a little more until the last week. But I do prefer this to the old way of waiting til Christmas Eve for 24/7 carols. 🙂 Merry Christmas.
Thanks so much Ann! 🙂 🙂 🙂
She is spending the night tonight and I am hoping we can get lots more decorating done!
Precious moments with your grandchildren! They are blessed to have such a wise and creative grandmother.
My husband presents advent each year at church. Last year he had families reading the Scripture and lighting the candle. This year he has monologues from various characters of the story. Love your art and knowing that Jesus brings peace and gives strength.
Wh at a great way to help the grandkids and remind us of the angels we have heard on high…singing so sweetly singing!
Very nice. It wonderful when they get old enough to start asking questions about the meaning of things like a Christmas song. 2 of mine have just started asking such questions and you have given me some good ideas here. Thank you!
Hi Connie, very welcome. Thanks for a lovely visit.
Oh Pamela, what a great way to celebrate this Advent season. A sweet blessing indeed. 🙂
