It's so fun to visit grandchildren, near and far. Last week, it was very far AND very fun. Particularly since I discovered my long-distance grandchildren are looking forward to plenty of autumn fun such as an exciting fall fest, followed by a delightful Reformation Party. Shades of my childhood years in a Lutheran school and some very sweet family memories. One of my favorite musical memories from that time of my life was one of the songs by Martin Luther, A MIghty Fortress is our God. It's still one of my favorites and how sweet to know my grandchildren are enjoying this inspirational song as well.
And now, here it is for you to enjoy in one of my Smilebox eCards Creations – sung by Chris Rice from his album, Peace Like A River: The Hymns Project, full of lovely praise and worship hymn songs and music.
This song was based on the encouraging Bible verses from Psalm 46, including:
When dealing with the Sandwich Generation issues of life, comforting hymns and Bible verses like these are such sweet words of encouragement and inspiration. Don't you think so? 🙂 |
P.S.
Love that great old hymn, and the video is beautiful. I like your thoughts on Halloween. It’s something like making lemonade out of lemons. You are an inspiration to so many in the sandwich generation and beyond.
Blessings,
Charlotte
That is very beautiful, Kaye. I’m glad you got to visit with your grandchildren. Blessings ~
I love when we are in church and hear a hymn that I remember from childhood. Knowing my children are getting the same comfort from beautiful spiritual music that I received gives me such joy!
Isn’t it awesome, Angie. A sweet way of sharing and leaving a spiritual legacy in their hearts.
Thanks, Charlotte! 🙂 And what a fun analogy. Have a blessed week. 🙂
It was such a joy, Cathy. Thank you 🙂
🙂 Whidbey Woman – it’s definitely an important church holiday! 🙂
Thank you, Kaye, for recognizing Reformation Sunday. We are Lutherans (ELCA) and it is a very important observance for us.
I remember going to church on 9-11. This was one of the songs we sang. It was so moving!
Kaye, this was such a blessing to hear! I listened to the whole song as it ministered to my spirit. It’s been a long time since I’ve heard it in church, too. I sure do wish they would play more of the older, familiar hymns or worship music that draws us into the presence of the Lord.
Thank you for this blessed moment!
Autumn is such a beautiful time of the year! Glad you got to enjoy some of it with your grandchildren.
Thanks for your prayers and hugs:)
Blessings,
Janis
Thanks Janis! I heard the prettiest hymn song today – a brand new song to me, but with the words mighty fortress is our God in it and at the very end there was just a hint of this song. It was so lovely – I’m going to have to track it down and share it in a future Sunday posting 🙂 Have a blessed week!
