praise and worship hymn songs and music for grandparents and their grandkids

Encouraging Bible Memory Verses for The Sandwich Generation granny nannys children and grandchildrenIt's been a bit of a green week, hasn't it? Nope, I haven't been sick – just having lots of fun with St Patricks Day around here at SandwichINK for the Sandwich Generation. But now it's time to get a bit more serious as we continue on with Lent ideas for our whole family – from the young kids and grandkids on up to our aging parents and grandparents.

3 leaf clover to remind the Sandwich Generation of the Trinity - Father Son Holy Spirit - during this season of Lent 2012

Each day my grandsons and I have been saying Wednesday's encouraging Bible Scripture. Thursday, while driving one to school, we listened to the praise and worship hymn song, Here I am to Worship, by Phillips, Craig and Dean. It was the perfect timing to practice our verse that day. And as I listened to the words, it also seemed an excellent song for this sweet Spiritual Sunday. As I meandered through YouTube, I was especially delighted with this version of the song – in song and ASL – sign language. What a great video to share with our grandchildren!

Last week, for A Pause in Lent 2012, Floss focused on the Liberality of God. I really appreciated that food for thought and was so blessed this week as God kept bringing it back to my mind with a wide variety of encouraging and comforting Bible verses to cheer my heart – even on the gloomiest and rainiest day of the week! Because even there – I rejoiced in the liberality of God as I watched the rain drops come down, slowly at first then faster and faster. The dry field nearby was still looking brown and dead but with plenty of rain, I know it will green up soon and bring a bountiful and, yes, liberal harvest to our neighbor.

A great reminder that as we plant seeds of God's Word – through Bible memory verses and praise and worship music – we too will reap a bountiful harvest – in our hearts and the hearts of our loved ones. What a lovely way of leaving a sweet spiritual legacy for our kids and grandkids! And what joy those songs and scriptures will be as they (and we) grow older through the years. Have a blessed day to all, in AND out of the Sandwich Generation!

The Sandwich Generation granny nanny loves sharing encouraging Bible memory verses for children with my grandkids - join meFor Word-Filled Wednesday, I shared some wonderfully encouraging and uplifting Bible memory verses from Romans 5  for our children and grandchildren, not to mention all the rest of us in the Sandwich Generation

Today, when I was thinking of what praise and worship hymn songs or music to use that would go well with those verses, I realized that one of my absolute favorites was perfect. It's not one of the very old Christian hymns. Although, since it was written in 2001 – making it older than many of my grandkids –  I suspect they might differ. 🙂

In Christ Alone, by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend, is such a beautiful song musically speaking. But the words are what really speak to my heart, including…

"In Christ alone, my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This Cornerstone, this solid Ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm." – Exactly what all of us in the Sandwich Generation so desperately need!

"…as He stands in victory, Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me, For I am His and He is mine, Bought with the precious blood of Christ!". – what a precious reminder for all of us and such a joy to share with our children and grandchildren! And so aptly reminding us of the words from Romans 5:8-9,

God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

Enjoy this lovely version of In Christ Alone – this hymn song was performed by Avalon
