Psalm 42 has comforting and encouraging Bible verses for the Sandwich Generation dealing with grief and loss issues

Like

<g:plusone size="small" count="" href="http://www.sandwichINK.com/the-sandwich-generation-grief-and-loss-issues-dry-depressed"></g:plusone>

One of the more difficult Sandwich Generation issues is dealing with grief and loss due to illness, hospitilization, or even hospice and death. During a prolonged season of suffering, your heart may sometimes feel like you are living in a desert. Too little time for the Word of God combined with too much overwhelming sorrow can lead you to join with the Psalmist as he wrote in Psalm 42:2,5-6…

I love the hope that is found in these difficult, yet comforting Bible verses. Notice that even though he doesn't "feel" like all is well, he chooses to fix his eyes and his heart on God. Wise words and guidance for all of us in the Sandwich Generation, caring for elderly parents, raising children or babysitting grandchildren, perhaps dealing with special needs – difficult illnesses – or more.

P.S. You can find additional encouraging and uplifting Bible verses and pictures, so comforting for all of us in the Sandwich Generation, by popping over to visit Internet Cafe Devotions. My Twitter Tuesday has turned into Microblog Monday today because tomorrow, Tuesday, SandwichINK is hosting the Seniors and Boomers Blog Carnival! Be sure to check back and read all the interesting articles we will have for you from the carnival. In the meantime, here are several items of interest from my Twitter microblog:

If you or your family (elderly parents, grandkids, etc.) are still using Microsoft Office 2003, be aware that they will be limiting support for it as of April 14, 2009. Thanks to @divinewrite for the heads up.

Speaking of dates in April, just a quick reminder that April 15 is getting close! If you or an aged parent haven’t yet filed, you might want to consider an extension. Also, if the adjusted AGI is less than $50,000, you can file with the IRS online for free . That’s great news you might want to pass on to your adult kids, aged parents, and other friends and family!

Lynn Mosher has a terrific article , “Wanna know why Jesus referred to us as sheep? Same characteristics.” As a caregiver, I recognized myself in several of the character traits, including trying to carry burdens all by myself instead of turning them over to God immediately! How about you?

Grants are being offered for families dealing with autism, per @autism family. This is for a limited time, so if you have a child or grandchild with autism, check it out quickly.

If you have pet cats, you need to know that Easter Lillies can be deadly to cats! I had a sweet cat for 17 years and never knew that!

“Children are a gift of the Lord!” Grandkids too!

Great tips for having an important conversation with aging parents.

Check out my article, "Fun Ways Grandparents Can Teach Grandchildren the True Meaning of Easter ," over at Ezine Articles.

How to Control Spending at ChristianPF has some excellent advice.

Generic Topamax is Now Available , is a very informative article at Mr. MedSaver. He has examples of pricing information ranging from $48 all the way up to $366!

Here’s a smile for you to share with the grandkids: Two silk worms had a race. They ended up in a tie! from @True_Gem.

With all that’s going on in the world today, including the North Korean concerns, this is especially important: I urge that entreaties, prayers, petitions, and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life.

Denise Brown, from Caregiving.com, writes about a respite camp for teens with a parent or grandparent who has Alzheimer’s. Studies show that more and more kids are having to deal with this, indirectly and even directly. This could be a big help to them. She also shares some useful tips to implement if Medicare says “no.”

That’s it from Twitter for this week. There will be more next week, probably on Tuesday. Then again, Microblog Monday has a nice ring too!
