Grandparents:

I really enjoyed reading all the interesting posts at the Homeschooling Blog Carnival at Janice-Campbell’s site. There’s some great ideas for our grandkids in homeschooling programs.

A good ebook resource for grandkids just starting in homeschooling programs.

My grandson was quite intrigued by these and had me print him out a copy. @prblog

Kids coloring pages to print including fun Thanksgiving coloring pages. Great for the grandkids

If you have an mp3 player, did you know you can buy simple stereo speakers for only $10 at Walmart and NO batteries are required? I just did that and now I can let my grandkids listen to stories and music with my iPod! Great for in a bedroom or you can even use them as frugal car mp3 players.

CurrClick is offering a free Thanksgiving workbook – fun for grandkids & grandparents.

Sandwich Generation:

I have always loved this quote – since I heard it years ago: “To me, old age is always 15 years older than I am” ~ F. Bacon. Thanks to @RetiredTeacherD @Terrillific RT @gen_kenig for the reminder.

Loved this article on exercise at Moomette’s Magnificents. The comments weren’t bad either.

Words of Encouragement for the Sandwich Generation! Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Printed out forms make fun "play business" times for grandkids as well as a great way to add creative social studies projects for homeschooling programs.

Like

<g:plusone size="small" count="" href="http://www.sandwichINK.com/grandkids-love-forms"></g:plusone>

Last year, my long distance grandkids enjoyed it when I mailed them the fun kids coloring pages to print. They especially loved the Princess and Strawberry Shortcake coloring pages I sent them!

This year, my oldest is reading and writing and we discovered she loves to fill in business-like forms of all kinds. “She doesn’t care what they are,” says mom. “She just has fun filling them in, just as I did when I was young.” So now I’m on a hunt for fun and interesting forms to help her set up her pretend businesses. I bet my nearby grandkids will enjoy them as well. For that matter, I thought some of your grandkids might also, so I am sharing with you the fruit of my labor.

Kids Turn Central has some fun genealogy forms that are just for kids and grandkids. They get fun forms AND fun pictures on many as well. And they get to learn more about their family. Terrific!

The IRS has tons of free forms available for printing on their site. It’s never too soon to teach our grandchildren about obeying the authorities over us by paying our taxes.

The state of Colorado has some interesting real estate forms with lots of lines and boxes my grandkids are sure to enjoy.

PNB has all sorts of intriguing forms with boxes and lines and circles to keep my grandkids happy learning the “banking business.”

Entreprenuer has all sorts of interesting forms including job applications, payroll records, and independent contractor’s agreements. This would be a great chance to talk to our grandkids about working as an employee vs. self-employment.

One caveat – make sure you only select the forms themselves. Otherwise you’ll be printing out lots of instructions your grandkids won’t care about.

Don’t you love it when you can put a smile on your grandchild’s face with just a few minutes of your time and some paper, envelopes, and stamps! And they get to enjoy pretending they are all grown up, and even learn more about the world around them. Hmmmm, I do believe this would make an excellent social studies projects for many of our grandkids’ homeschooling programs!

<g:plusone size="small" count="" href="http://www.sandwichINK.com/happy-thanksgiving"></g:plusone>

I hope and pray your day is full of God’s love, joy, and blessings. Whether our families are near or far or both, we can be blessed by knowing that our Heavenly Father is right here with us always! I am so thankful for that!

“I love You, O LORD, my strength.” The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:1-2

Here are some fun Thanksgiving links for you:

Crosswalk has an interesting article that includes the history of Thanksgiving.

Some Thanksgiving coloring pages to print out for the kids to work on while they wait to eat – Coloring Pages to Print 1 and Coloring Pages to Print 2.

Thanksgiving Troubleshooting Tips – I wish I’d had some of these available 20 years ago when I first tried to do Thanksgiving on my own!

Real Simple has a “Thanksgiving Cheat Sheet.”

More Turkey Help – Butterball’s website has plenty of information to help with turkey questions. They also have an 800 number where there are many options to select from for pre-recorded information. 1-800-BUTTERBALL.

Here’s another one I needed 20 years ago – troubleshooting gravy! Nowadays I just skip the gravy. It’s healthier that way. Ahhh, the joys of aging! For those of you who still enjoy indulging in it, What’s Cooking America has some great tips to help you.

Last, but not least, here is a Thanksgiving gift of a Fall Haiku that I am thankful I received and am thankful I can share with you this year!

Fall

Fall is so breezy

Fall is a wonderful season.

Fall walks are so cool.

Today would be a wonderful day for us all to take a fall walk after dinner to help all of us caregivers, grandparents, and Sandwich Generation–ers stay healthy!

Once again, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
