Stand Firm on These Words of Encouragement

by on February 24, 2010

Here in Kentucky it's in between snow storms. I decided I wanted a picture to make us think of spring and I found that in this photo. More than that, I saw this flamingo, standing firm in spite of a very gooey situation, reminding me, no matter what gooey Sandwich Generation situation I find myself in, I have to rely on God to enable me to STAND FIRM IN THE LORD!

Several inspirational Bible Verses offer Sandwich Generation Grandparents Words of Encouragement to Stand Firm_picnik

…Now we really live, if you stand firm in the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 3:8

…Stand firm in the Lord, my beloved. Philippians 4:1

…Stand firm in the faith… 1 Corinthians 16:13

…Stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught. 2 Thessalonians 2:15

More than one pastor has pointed out that if God repeats Himself in the Bible, there's a VERY good reason for that. :)  As a Sandwich Generation grandmother, one of my biggest desires has always been for my kids and grandkids to know and love God with all their hearts, souls, strengths, and minds. Next, once they have done that, I desire for each of us to STAND FIRM IN THE LORD! These are all some of my primary prayers every day! And I am blessed because I know that these are God's desires for us as well, which means I am praying according to His will in all of this. Very encouraging!

What are some of your favorite verses to pray for your children, grandchildren and yourself?

Blessings Kaye… I love this on standing FIRM and the flamingo!
Each of the verses on standing firm we really do need just as you said…first to know the LORD and then to stand firm! Great thoughts and prayers

I have a 2 different 31 day prayers for your children: one on my desktop is on Godly characteristics and the other I translated to Spanish from a church handout that originally came from Focus on the Family; Bob H. http://www.bobhostetler.com (31 ways to pray for your children) There was this blog also that has prayers for children from 2008 & 2009 but no longer adding:
http://liftinghands.blogspot.com/

Acts 2:39; Ps. 91; Acts 16:31; Deut. 11:18-23; Phil. 2:13; Eph. 3: 14 and the armor of God or whatever their specific need at the time.
The best is an excellent post by Angie Smith on prayers for her small children: (mine are now grown & still need prayer more than ever)

Thanks for your visit and encouragement, standing firm in praying for prodigals and our children: young & old! Thanks for reminding us!

Such slender wonderfully crafted legs on that bird……shows just how the creator matches the load with that on which it is placed.
