The Refuse-Aging Baby Boomers Generation and the Sandwich Generation caring for elderly parents have hit the news again

The Baby Boomer Generation and the Sandwich Generation are in the news again and I thought you'd enjoy reading about the issues being discussed. First up is an interesting article from The Vancouver Sun with a rather scary headline:

Baby boomers have unique dental problemsThey're susceptible to tooth root cavities, sensitivity, exposed gums. YIKES! As a tooth-challenged dental-chair-phobic who bravely goes for her regular checkups fairly regularly, this is not good news! It appears that even though we are taking better care of our teeth than ever before (YAY us! :) ), we are also living longer. Guess that whole never-aging baby boomers thing seems to be working :) . That is, however, leading to new problems.

Since the aging Baby Boomers Generation are living longer they should use soft toothbrushes

As the article states: One of the most prominent issues is adult root cavities, which occur when vigorous brushing and age push back gums and expose the base of the teeth. According to a report by Canada's Oral Health Journal, the issue is exacerbated by the age-related health problems baby boomers are experiencing.

The article has some great suggestions, including my dentist-recommended and favorite mouthwash. To his recommendations, I would also suggest Sensodyne toothpaste for sensitive teeth. If you were to ask me what is the best toothpaste for sensitive teeth, Sensodyne would definitely be my choice. I'm really picky about toothpaste and it tastes good (I use the Cool Gel) AND I have not had any more teeth sensitivity issues since I started to use it. I have also had no side effects from it, which was another concern. Of course, for something like this, it's always wise to consult your dentist or doctor before making any changes. In my case, it was my dentist who recommended Synsodyne toothpaste for my sensitive teeth issues. :)

My dentist recommended Sensodyne toothpaste to me for my teeth sensitivity issues caused by my being one of the aging baby boomers

The Santa Barbara Independent writes about the Sandwich Generation issues:

The Sandwich Generation – Consider the Baby Boomers - It discusses such considerations as dealing with downsizing, independence and the stress and strain when our senior parents have to give up their own independence; as well as the financial issues involved for those of us helping our multigenerational family – senior parents, our older children, maybe even our grandchildren… A very interesting read.
