Love – 1 Corinthians and Sandwich Generation-style – Always Protects, Always Trusts

by Kaye Swain on July 14, 2010

The Biblical definition of Love, as found in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 and 13, is a great Bible Memory verses project for grandparents and their grandchildren and my grandkids and I have been enjoying working on it this summer. Here is 1 Corinthians 13:7a (NIV) for a lovely Word-Filled Wednesday:

The Biblical definition of Love from 1 Corinthians 13 4 - 8 and 13 includes Love that always protects and trusts

Love…It always protects, always trusts…

1 Corinthians 13: 7

Isn't that a delightful shot (taken by a very talented friend of mine! :) ). It is such a terrific visual of a love that is always protecting and trusting – just as God loves us and just as God wants us to love those He's put in our care.

For the Sandwich Generation, caring for elderly parents and granny nannies and pappies to grandchildren, that's where we start. And for our grandchildren, we can use these fun Bible memory verses activities to help them learn they start with moms, dads, brothers, sisters, GRANDPARENTS (I'm not biased, MUCH :) ), friends, neighbors, and even the kids they don't get along with.

It's not necessarily an easy lesson for them, and it takes a lot of learning and re-learning. I'm in my 50s and still working on that. But by active Bible memorization, teaching them Bible verses equally wonderful for adults and children, coupled with lots of simple Scripture prayers, we can help them hide God's Word in their hearts, bit by bit by bit, and trust God for the results.

P.S. I discovered another sweet new meme all centered on Love for us to enjoy. What delightful timing. Also…

Now that our two are BOTH in real SS and not in the nursery…we are working SUPER hard on verses. It’s so cute…and WONDERFUL to hear God’s Word coming out of their mouths. Smiles and Love!!

Such a sweet picture for this scripture…I love the the repetition of the word “always” in this scripture….kind of settles the matter, don’t you think?

Oh, I absolutely love this! We were on the same animal page today, huh? I felt silly using my dogs for a verse, but God does create animals for our enjoyment and His, that’s for sure! Love this picture and what a perfect verse to go with it! Enjoy the rest of your WFW!!!!

So happy you could play along this week. God’s timing is perfect, isn’t it?

Originally I had put in my post “Love is patient. Love is kind.” but then I went with the scripture in 1John at the bottom of my post instead.

I pray this meme encourages your readers to seek out the places in their day to day lives where LOVE is apparant. What a blessing!

Hope to see you next week!

Hi Lori, Thanks! :) And you have plenty of company. With all the Sandwich Generation issues and writing, I’m often a day or a few days late – but it spreads out the wonderful encouragement from all the lovely photos and inspirational Bible verses. :) Have a blessed Word-Filled week!
