I have some serious baby boomer and senior citizen news for those of us in the Sandwich Generation, dealing with the issues of caring for elderly parents with dementia symptoms – specifically Lewy Body Dementia. There is a brand new book out on this subject, A Caregiver's Guide to Lewy Body Dementia by Helen Buell Whitworth and Jim Whitworth. I knew that if your loved one is in the midst of this or you want to know more about it to SEE if they might be dealing with it, you'd want to know about this book.
Amazon currently has seven reviews up for this book – all giving it the maximum of 5 stars! Most seem to be written by children caring for elderly parents with Lewy Body Dementia Disease as well as one written by an RN specializing in in caring for the elderly with dementia symptoms and she wrote, "I was not knowledgeable about Lewy Body dementia until I was introduced to the information in this book. Specifically, there are differences in the medical treatment of Lewy Body and Alzheimer's. Inappropriate medications given to Lewy Body patients can harm them. This book is an invaluable resource for Long Term Care facilities education, as well as Home Health Care training. Practical, concise and invaluable for families and direct caregivers at all levels." Sounds like an excellent book for a caregiver's library. What do you think?
