Fruit of the Spirit – Sweet Blessings for the Sandwich Generation – Philippians 4:5-7

by Kaye Swain

Philippians is full of wonderful advice for caregivers, like this passage from 4:5:-7.

Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

For that matter, it's also great advice to share with our grandkids! In fact, this Scripture is perfect for all of us in the Sandwich Generation, don't you think? These encouraging Bible verses are definitely ones I want to be meditating on today and throughout this month so I also used this cute country clipart and Scripture to make a wallpaper for my iPhone -

as well as a cute coloring page for our grandkids. I hope you enjoy these as well. :)

Life is full of things to cause us to be anxious and that's especially true for those of us in the Sandwich Generation. I'm so grateful that God has told us to pray about everything (and trust me, as my grandkids will tell you – I DO pray about EVERYTHING, whether it's a lost toy or a friend battling cancer or kids arguing with each other or dealing with computer woes or…), AND has promised us HIS PEACE – truly a blessed gift in the fruit of the Spirit for all of us!

P.S. Thank you so much for your comments. I enjoy them very much and read each one. I also love the grand ideas so many of you share that help and encourage other readers. I do my best to reply to them all but value your patience when that isn\'t possible.

“The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing.” I have counseled my daughters with this advice for many years. It can be difficult to embrace, though. I am looking forward to giving the same to my grandchildren when they are old enough to understand. So far, the Fisher-Price nativity stable I gave the boys became a handy-dandy parking garage for their Hot Wheels. Two year Bree tossed the holy family and her Calico Critters raccoons took up residence inside. (Well, that’s raccoons for ya!) We have a ways to go here, obviously, but we’re workin’ on it!
Thanks for the beautiful messages of peace and hope!

Wow! I needed this tonight! Thank you and yes I need to remember to teach it to the kids too. I forget in the middle of the diaper changes and meal fixing. Thanks for linking with me.
