I can see we both have Advent on the brain, and for much the same reasons! I've done a series of Pre-Advent posts, every Sunday for a number of weeks now, trying to encourage people to make Chistmas more meaningful by approaching it via Advent. I see it as taking the time to reflect on the story of Jesus' birth, and what that means in our lives today. Some of my blogging friends are Christians, some are spiritual in a different way, and some have no active faith. I hope that those who want to can blog together this Advent, perhaps by sharing Advent thoughts and activities each Sunday, and can grown in faith through what we share. It starts the fourth Sunday before December 25 and ends at Christmas. One of the primary traditions is to light candles and do devotions to help prepare you and your family for Christmas, with the focus usually staying on the birth of Jesus. The first Sunday you light one red candle, the second Sunday you light two red candles, then three, then four, and finally, on Christmas Day you light the fifth candle which is white. Other fun things to do during this time are to use an Advent calendar to count down the days, along with incorporating various crafts and activities as we have fun preparing for Christmas.
